What was your recipe ???
I think someone agreed with me in the gaf thread that steamed or boiled brusselsprouts taste like shit. So they said to put them in the oven, I think? And put butter on top of them and sprinkle bacon?
-
it's pretty basic
i cut them in half lengthwise toss them w/ a bit of olive oil and salt and pepper and then put them in the oven at 400 degrees until the outside leaves have started to blacken. you can cook bacon while that goes on then crumble it and put it onto the roasted BS.
otherwise i cook the bacon, then put the BS into the fat to cook for about 7 minutes covered. not as good as roasting them I don't believe, but still quite tasty
-
Sounds good. What are some good meat that goes well with it? Thinking of cooking fish.
-
I'm so skeptical because I can't steam steamed BS. I can't stand them. But you guys say roasted BS tastes so good.
-
i thought the oven was the only way to cook brussel sprouts? ???
-
Olive oil and sea salt. Not butter.
Roast them with some Jerusalem artichokes, too.

Well, everything tastes better with roasting flavours and fat ;). Another method is to take them apart (cut of the stem generously), maybe blanch the leaves quickly and then roast them in butter with chopped onions and some bacon. I also like to eat them puree, a nice winter mash for example is with roasted chestnuts and pumpkin and/or sweet potato with some spices like cinnamon and nutmeg (plus butter and cream). Eating that with brusselsprouts is just delicious.

Why not butter?
I like the taste that olive oil imparts on Brussel sprouts a lot more. Just a personal preference.

lamb sucks. don't like those "earthy" meats.

i do something similiar to this most of the time, or a mustard sauce. Mustard sauce + sprouts + pork loin :noah

I love duck. It's the one meat I wish I could eat more often. I only tolerate lamb on gyros and even then, I'd rather just have it with beef. Lamb and rabbit have this weird "grassy" or "earthy" after taste I simply don't like. I'll tolerate them, but I'm not a big fan.
My favorite meats are:
1. pork
2. chicken
3. duck
4. beef
Unless it's sea food I try to avoid other meats. The thing about lamb and rabbit is that I like them when they're in my mouth, but when I swallow the after taste is gross. Maybe it's how they're cooked, I have no idea.

Hmm, sucks. :(

Olive oil, salt, black pepper...roast them until they are slightly charred on the outside. So gooood....
-
So I did this tonight and :obama First time liking bs'.
-
I had brussel sprouts for the first time ever a couple months ago, they're pretty good! They were cooked on top of the stove, in some olive oil with carrots.
-
Cook some bacon. Roast some garlic. Panfry the brussel sprouts in the bacon fat with the roasted garlic. Crumble the bacon and sprinkle it on top.

When you say you don't like lamb, does this mean you don't like Donner Kebab?
