Apparently I talk like someone from Greensboro, Jacksonville, or Tallahassee :mindblown
-
I did mine on my phone at first and the map didn't come up, so I failed.
-
Dance like nobody's watching, love like you've never been hurt, talk like an error occurred

like a true daughter of missouri, you have no dialect. #sportscastervoice
Yay!!!
Mupepe said I had a twang, as have a few other people from the South.... I'm not confirming or denying but I will say it comes out in full force after a few hours around my extended family.

People with accent insecurity are usually latent homosexuals.
-
I got Boston :goty :stahp

Congratulations, you talk like an asshole.
-
I think I answered a couple of them facetiously. I hope so. :-\
-
Atlanta, GA
Greensboro, NC
Columbus, GA
-
Lubbock, Texas
Amarillo, Texas
Little Rock, Arkansas
:goty
-
Detroit, Michigan
Yonkers, NY
NYC, NY
I was born in Detroit. Seems like one story guaranteed the Detroit result. We call the day before Halloween "Devil's Night," and apparently very few people label it that.

darkest spot is exactly right over where I live, so it looks like this test is pretty damn accurate.
-
springfield, tulsa, and oklahoma city wtf
i guess i use a lot of the same words as people around here but i know my pronunciation is a little different; i got some of my moms jersey accent that comes out sometimes.
-
Baltimore
close enough
-
Got me dead on. Winston Salem and Greensboro NC.

Makes sense for a foreigner I guess. That's where all the prominent media comes from. Well, what I consume, anyway. Not many video game podcast on my list that are recorded in the south. The clincher for me was "firefly".
-
I wonder what makes my Arlington accent different than your Baltimore accent?
i was wondering the same thing. for reference, here is my dialect map

Springfield, Lexington, and Phoenix. 8)
-
Modesto, CA
Reno, NV
Boise, ID
??? ??? ???
Lived in Kentucky all of my life. What the fuck.
-
Thing's broke. I talk all over the country to the point where ONE word/choice gave me two cities. :lol
-
Most like Southern California, New York and Maine
First two make sense but Maine seems weird
I've never been there but I've always thought of Maine as being small town
-
My map looked much different than yours since I had influences from everywhere (New Englander mom and Southerner dad plus traveling?).
also, the metro area -- especially arlington -- has a lot of transplants which i'm sure factored into the results.
-
Fort Lauderdale
Miami
Pembroke Pines
-
kinda creepy... gave me sacramento, reno, and san jose. I was born right outside sacramento, but only lived there for a few years. must have absorbed it quickly.
-
I got New York, Jersey City, and Newark. Cool I guess.
-
I would fit right in on Honolulu.

Hmm.
This explains why people in SC think I'm from out of state.
-

New York, Jersey City, and Yonkers here. I guess the slight difference is that Newark is more black and urban and Yonkers is more white and suburban?

Id say lake district makes sense cause its close to canada and more the british english we learn in school.
Is it different where you are from?
-
If they actually surveyed for that sort of stuff (dance/dahnce, etc.) I'd end up in Britain somehwere. But since it's blind to those differences...
The lexical questions they put on there seem to weight the results pretty heavily as well and I had to abstain/pick "other" on a bunch of those.

Makes sense. I bet it was "y'all" must have put me in the Newark group.

San Jose, Santa Rosa, and Honolulu.
Most distinctive answer for all three was firefly for some reason.
