So far my list isnt very long, but Ive stopped finishing games that didnt grab me years ago:

Batman Arkham Asylum
Binary Domain
Max Payne 3
Tomb Raider
X-Com Enemy Unknown
Uncharted 2
Uncharted 3
The Last of Us

Almost finished:

God of War 3 (got an hour or two left, good game, will finish it on the 1st prob)
The Walking Dead (savegame bug made me stop playing it, was great till that point)
Dead Space (12 hours in... Should really get back and finish it one day)
Rayman Origins (Didnt have enough notes to open up final boss)
Company of Heroes (19 hours in i got my ass kicked and after a few tries my interest fizzled out)

I'm pretty close to beating Animal Crossing: New Leaf (fully paid off house) and Pokemon Y, though.

Backloggery says (http://www.backloggery.com/memorycard.php?user=Andrex) I'm -12 for the year... better than the two previous years where I was -13 and -18... In fact the only year I broke even on games I bought vs. beat was 2010, when I made a huge effort to do so (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=383026). Might be time to do that again and clear some things out.

I count most games as beaten when I reach the end credits. For games where it's all about a getting a high score I count them as beaten when I've had enough of them.

I don't have anyone to compete against in Super Hexagon so my high score is only 96.10 seconds on Hard and 31.50 seconds on Harder.

this christmas my wife got me a a/v cord for my saturn since i had lost mine years ago. my first thought was FUCK YES NOW I CAN PLAY MY OLD SATURN GAMES AGAIN. my second thought was WHY DID I WANT TO PLAY MY OLD SATURN GAMES AGAIN.

most of the good stuff i owned i rebought in the years since like treasure games and castlevania. other stuff like panzer dragoon looks heinous. guess i'll replay magic knight rayearth or whatever.

It depends. If I hate the game I will drop it in an instant. If it's just a bit boring I might power through it to see the end. The last game I beat, Bravely Default, was quite repetitive towards the end so then I just turned down the difficulty so I could beat it faster.

What does it mean to "beat" a game?

We don't say we "beat" a movie or "beat" a book. This kind of talk just encourages treating gaming like a disposable commodity instead of respecting it as a transcendent form of art.

I think just Batmans, Saints Row IV and Clap Trap's Revolution. And I haven't finished what I wanted to with the first two. Meanwhile I feel like I've started as many games as demi finished.  :(

On the plus side, that's way more games than I got to last year where I just beat Arkham City, the other Borderlands DLCs and then just played Civ or multiplayers rather than really starting anything else.

Even to say you experienced the game implies a finality to the experience, it denies the lasting psychic effects of art. You cannot speak of the giraffe in The Last of Us, or the train car of Uncharted 2, or the destructible pillars of Killzone 2, or when you lost Jason at the mall in Heavy Rain, or the first hit of Nectar in Haze as if they were singular events that came and went for these forever shape how you approach life itself. They stay with you and you continue to experience them through how they frame your other experiences. You can't get Beyond what they've done To your Souls.

They illustrate life itself. To "beat" or "finish" them is to cast away life into a Tokyo Jungle and deny your own personal Journey.

Unlike 2012, 2013 was a year of being pensive about the games I have to play. I finished Diablo III (a bunch of times) and Bioshock Infinite...and I guess Injustice Gods Among Us counts. Too much dithering- need to change that this year.
