-Built with a modified version of the SOURCE engine, explore ZENLIL, a living and highly interactive environment with complete freedom and agency. Includes turbulence and non-scripted decompression events!

-Engage with a cast of over 20 people with an innovative and life like conversation system with over 4,000 lines of fully voiced dialogue. OR... don't engage with them at all and choose to never speak a word!

-Experience an all original orchestral score by award winning composer Jeremy Soule

-Engage in a deep mystery concerning an on-board murder and a large band of mercenaries who seem to want YOU dead.

-Dive into a world with well over 150,000 words of back-story and lore, where everything you read, see, speak, or hear relates to the story and characters, and everything is there for a reason.

-A highly original energy based inventory system with original sci-fi weapons, gadgets and armor.

-The story unfolds based largely on your actions. You may use diplomacy and talk your way through the entire game - never shooting anyone! OR, decide to use deadly or non-lethal force.

-Forge lasting relationships with the crew of ZENLIL, and alter the course of the story through your actions. Your choices will change your play experience, and subsequent playthroughs offer the chance to make different decisions and see all new outcomes.

-Regardless of what you choose to do or not, the experience always moves forward, adapting seamlessly to YOU.

Consortium is a murder mystery, a political drama and a heavy dose of weird science fiction. It’s the fiction that’s weird rather than the science – the technology is mostly made up of believable near-future devices, with a few notable exceptions, but the story itself is strange from the outset. Contrary to expectation, the writing creates a state of peculiarity and uneasiness by containing so much that is ordinary.

Consortium has more in common with The Last Express or even a recent Telltale release than Bioware’s space opera, and the stories it tells are both far stranger and far more believable than I’ve come to expect from sci-fi games.

It's out on Steam tomorrow.

Looks kind of like Mass Effect.

$18 on Steam right now. I bought it a couple hours ago, but my download speed has been kinda lame today. I should be able to get it done soon, though, and I'll let you guys know how it turned out.

It's a really interesting game through an hour and a half. The execution is really shaky in the gameplay mechanics [as in, the controls are stiff, collision detection is pretty bad, and the shooting parts are not good at all], but that's not really what this game is all about. Instead, it's about interacting with the crew of the vessel and deciding how you want to handle the various situations you're handed, so far, at least, Consortium is doing that really well.

Is the Deus Ex comparison made on GAF an apt one or? My PC sucks but looking at the sys requirements I should be able to play this alright if its any good

It's not a stealth action game, unlike Deus Ex, this game is all about interaction and choice. You can beat the entire game without ever drawing your weapon even once. I suppose they're both similar in a way, but Deus Ex ultimately goes in one direction and Consortium goes in another.

Beat Consortium today with 3.7 hours on the clock. I'm a little disappointed by that, and the ending was underwhelming and didn't tie up the plot threads [which will continue to be explore through at least two more games], but I already want to play through the game again. And that's the thing about this, there are so many things that you can do differently and say differently to make the game shift in different directions that it practically begs you to play through it all again...and again. People who are on the fence might want to wait a little while for a price drop and some patches [as the gameplay mechanics, as mentioned previously, are in need of some additional work].

But I don't regret my purchase one bit.

The "Master Edition" is out today just in case you were waiting until the game was a bit more polished to buy it. And it's got controller support now, if that's something you care about.
