I haven't seen much talk about this, but this whole thing disgusts me. This is the stuff that scares me more than the shit the NSA does.
The lack of responsibility. Lax regulation. Local politicians shrugging. Bankruptcy. Basically, fuck your water. We never told you to drink or bathe in it.

Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.
-
1. Ax regulations
2. Do lots of polluting
3. Get caught
4. Bankruptcy!
5. Open similarly-named company a few months later
We almost had a President who loudly and proudly said "Corporations are people, my friend!" Funny...when was the last time you ever saw a corporation thrown in jail for breaking the law?
Edit: I was actually being a little facetious about Number 5, but that's exactly what they're doing! Holy Jumping Moses! :neogaf

Regulations are bad you guys.
-
something something big government something something hurts the economy
-
I bet if Al-Queada poisoned the water of 300,000 people, this would be a headline on every single paper and top story in the news. But it's just some corporation...... so nothing to see here.
-
Great topic. Please add this to the OP:

“You feel like everyone’s turned against you,” he said. He assured his audience that he would continue to fight back against proposed new Environmental Protection Agency regulations on coal, quoting the state motto in Latin: “Montani semper liberi” — “Mountaineers are always free."
I misread that as 'Monsanto semper liberi' and nearly fell over

Mountaineers always did love them some dumping millions of gallons of toxic sludge everywhere. It's part of their noble heritage.

Yeah, and now this whole fracking movement while the water supply in NW America is already pretty crazy bad... I don't know why there isn't more of an effort into alternative fuels.
-
I don't know why there isn't more of an effort into alternative fuels.
Because fossil fuel industry profits.
-
Yeah, but with fracking, that's like choosing to get high by huffing, when there's a bunch of free beer and weed everywhere.
