I installed a new video card and Windows 7 stops working because "it needs to be reactivated". I don't have the key anymore so I looked it up using a program and when I type it in Microshite refuses to accept it. So now I have a non genuine version of windows that is losing compatibility and I refuse to pay $180 for a new copy of windows. fukkin hacks. cna anyone sell me a student key for cheap or something ty freinds
-
So MS is a shit copy because you lost your key i.e. the actual thing you own?
-
I have the key it's just not accepting it now because "it's been activated too many times" what a joke
-
Call Microsoft support and explain the situation, a friendly indian person will provide you with a new key
-
i laughed at friendly indian person
-
i just bought a copy of windows 8 instead microshtie :piss
-
sounds like Microsoft won :patel
-
I get all my windows software for free. Thanks Uni CS.
-
I've had a couple problems with Windows and had to call for support. While it took awhile they were very helpful. Definitely the best I've had to deal with (Comcast being the worst). Just call and explain your situation
-
complain about MS and then end up buying their wack new OS, brehs.
Demonic.
-
So, what you're saying is... Microsoft is to companies as Methodis is to internet posters?

I got a really helpful young man when I had to call to figure out my XBL account details after not using it for 4 years.

methodis gonna methodis

:comeon
I never once had that problem even though I upgrade videocards every 6 months.

Even if you do, can't you deactivate it through the registry, just like you can get the key IIRC?
-
:lol This is like one of the few instances where you barely have to worry about this stuff because Microsoft will give you Windows activations back for pretty much any "upgrade" reason if you call.
-
Windows shouldn't freak out because of a graphics card change anyway. You should be able to replace just about anything, including hard drives, up to the actual motherboard before Windows actually starts to care.
-
Guys, I'm pretty sure we should take methodis at his word. It's not like he tried to pretend he was black for years and years or anything.
-
A+ thread would read again

I've seen it trigger changing out a broken DVD drive more than once and have yet to see it trigger when taking the hard drive Windows is installed on and putting it into a completely new and different computer. :lol
I'm sure that plays some role in why Microsoft doesn't care and just lets you activate again. Though I've even gotten Office and VisualStudio activations back before so it's probably more like they just don't give a shit in general about individual users.
-
I usually re-activate it via phone via some auto response thing because I always call up late.
-
Been Pirating windows for more than 10 years now and never had a problem, great company.
-
Microsoft is pretty sweet, A- would work there again
-
Thank you, recursive.
-
The windows 8.1 installer has been stuck at 38% for a hour now :piss microshite
-
No one believes a word you say. Why don't you just fuck off forever?
-
Why would I lie about a shitty is dont be a hater cuz u ain't ghetto
-
Windows 8 actually loks quite nice and clean. Shame about the start menu tho. any way to make that better / useful?
-
Delete it an install windows 7, it should fix most of the problems.

There's also some free ones like IOBit's Start Menu 8 but I've heard this is worth the five bucks.
-
Can we agree Windows 7 is pretty dope tho
:rejoice
-
Windows 8 is pretty dope after you spend the time to turn it into Windows 7.

-
Its actually an incorrect meme because M$ didn't create DOS, they bought it
-
Well they "created" MS-DOS which was an OS like DOS.
-
I bought the windows 8 upgrade in the very beginning when they had a special offer on it. Hard disk crashed after a while and the key didn't activate for a fresh install. So i get myself a copy of windows 7 and then tried to upgrade to windows 8.2, the key didn't work because it is not for 8.2. So i upgraded to 8.0 and then from there i was able to upgrade for free to 8.2.
Not sure what the point here is but i found it both frustrating and funny.
-
I also had some issues with upgrading from 7 to 8. My solution was to remove a key from the registry manually.
-
I really really like Windows 8. I think people have been unfair to it; it's a lighterweight version of windows 7 as has been said before once u add in a real start bar. Metro aint bad either, it's nice to be able to have TuneinRadio finally without having to deal with ugly streams.
-
It's gonna get more Desktop friendly in March BTW:

I don't like any of those changes :-\ Or rather the context menu might be a good thing but I'm afraid it could screw up multiselect.

"More Desktop friendly" by shoving Metro down our throats. Gee, thanks, Microsoft.
-
Windows 8 is at least 71% better if you ignore the App Store, the Metro interface, Snap view, SkyDrive and all the other new features. Turn everything off and you're left with a more stable and useful version of Windows 7.
-
I'm curious how 8 is "more stable" than the already pretty damn stable 7
-
I like Win8.1 just fine. I'll tell you what, though, Windows Phone can go fuck itself. I've been trying to move some mp3s to mine for the last 30 minutes and the motherfucker stops responding constantly. Have to reboot the phone to get the PC to recognize it. And it wants to reinstall the drivers. Ended up having to take the SD card out and manually transfer everything. Fuck this piece of shit.
-
Ugh, now it's throwing up error codes whenever I try to play the files I transferred. It's not the card, works fine on anything else. What a miserable experience. Never buying another Windows phone again.
-
The Windows Phone transfer app is like iTunes, but even worse, if you can imagine that.
-
Lol, I dont even put MP3 on my iPod because the whole Itunes procedure is god awful. I just watch youtube at work on it.
-

I've had one BSOD since I installed it and that was caused by Nvidia's new experience suite. Otherwise I've had no issues except for the standard Flash crashes. Windows 7 was also great but this seems even more stable.
-
Finally got it to work, by leaving the sd card in the phone and dragging the songs over one at a time and waiting for each copy to finish. Thanks for burning up my entire lunch hour over something that should have taken no more than five minutes max, assholes
-
i cant get nvidai experience to shadowplay correclty it just fuks up makes it og super fast and no sound :piss
-
I wouldn't blame MS for that, Nvidia Geforce Experience has always been kind of busted.

You were transferring to an SD card? You don't need to use the app to transfer files, it's just drag and drop but I can't comment if you were having trouble with SD Cards.
Whole music/playlist is hopefully getting fixed in WP8.1.
@demi
Windows 8 is just faster but yeah, that's it.

Yeah I don't. It's a cool idea on Nvidias part tho, shame they cna't get it to work half decent

Why you using the transfer app, bro? I just drag and drop that shit through explorer. The transfer app is asssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Zune was awesome. It sucks that they killed it.
