We had four hours of exclusive hands-on time with Ground Zeroes, which we used to play through the main mission and experiment with extra modes.

Ground Zeroes was never said to be a full game. It's basically the Tanker mission ala MGS2.

Kotaku:
Game Informer got their hands on a near-final build of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes for their March cover story, and they say they beat the game's main mission (not including side quests or special console-exclusive missions) in less than two hours. Less than two hours!

"Judged just by the core story mission, Ground Zeroes is short," Game Informer writes in the cover story (only available in the magazine, not online). "We completed it in just less than two hours."

Maybe they actually managed to make a good little tanker-like game? Might end up playing this...

Very interesting Kojima interview in the issue. Basically talks about how he got into gaming and how he is stuck being the Metal Gear guy. He claims he does not want to be known as that man, he claims he doesnt have much time left cause he is 50 so he wants to write a list of all he wants to do before he dies and make sure he does it which includes writing a novel and making a movie.

He claims he likes simple stories, ironically. He said he always tries to make a simple story. He says he wont let series canon hinder him from telling the story he wants so if he has to contradict a few things he will.

There was a comparison of him and James Cameron with Aliens where that franchise was handed off after Alien and it was successful. Kojima said his situation is more like Terminator where if he left it would become a mess. He claims he has had no success in passing the torch which implies he has tried. There is a lot about Japanese culture and how he doesn't relate to any Japanese developers anymore except Platinum Games.

What I found most interesting is his talk about GTA and Konami. Remember that GTA tweet about how amazing an open world it was and how he was jealous. Well he says he is jealous of Rockstar that they are able to pump all their resources into making the game they desire. He says he can't do that, he still needs to work with Konami and partner on different projects and make sure things are balanced for Konami as a whole.

He says he just got into Breaking Bad and he is pissed cause he wasnt the one to come up with that story, he wants to tell that kind of story. He says if he pitched a story like that to Konami they would probably say no. He also loved Gravity, loved how simple it was and he says trying to create a game that simple would be hard with Konami. He says that movie really impacted him, making something out of the ordinary a big success and is jealous of it as a creator, says it stirred something in him.

He talks about how he is close friends with Guillermo Del Toro, says he would like to work with him one day.

Unless the next words out of Bethesda's mouth when the eventual Fallout 4 happens after the title is "will be like a P&P RPG, SPECIAL will impact all your actions" Fallout 4 can die in a fire.

Partially that and partially tech demo for Fox Engine. If well received it'll probably spawn licensing for Konami/Kojima like they want.

Ha! It'd be great if the MGS content were given away as a free-to-use library of Unity objects; the fantard fantods over the explosion of content, much of which could end up being better than the original games.

It has nothing to do with being poor and more to do with the fact that these systems won't have anything worth playing aside from cross gen ports for at least two years. ps3 has a better lineup than ps4. Enjoy replacing your ps4/bone in a few years/months.

:lol pretty sure the graphical difference will be negligible. Kojima has stated that the main difference will be framerate, with older consoles being locked at 30 and newer at 60.

30fps for MGS is fine by me. That's how the whole series has been, I wasn't expecting it to change.

Huh? No I won't. 48 fps is extremely fast for a film, it looked like a tv soap opera because of it. MGS5 ps3 would be 30, which is slightly above the standard film frame rate.

"Are Journey and Dear Esther long?" Amaro told Gamespot. He also cited the philosopher Voltaire's 18th century Candide, alluding to the fact that the work was only around 100 pages in length. "Yet they are masterpieces of video game and literature. This smearing will not stain and affect what we're aiming to achieve with MGS, the game industry in Japan, or video games as a whole."

"I want people to celebrate the new MGS like we used to. I'm not dismissing their concerns. But this [issue surrounding the game's length] has been trumped-up," Amaro said.

 - Kojima Productions designer Jordan Amaro
