I thought they already owned Time Warner. I didn't even know Time Warner still existed because I thought they merged services with Comcast.
-

TV pilot pitch: an ordinary person suddenly acquires the ability to predict the future, only the information comes to them as memories, indistinguishable from things that have happened in the past. Our hero must find a way to use this blessing/curse to help people, but how?
If it's an HBO series, maybe keep the lead as a black transgendered woman and lapsed Muslim. If we sell to a network, recast it as Patrick Dempsey or something.

it's probably because my aunt has worked in cable for 30 years and she used to work for Time Warner Cable, but then suddenly she worked for Comcast, and I heard nothing about her leaving companies, because normally we talk about things like that at family dinners.
I just assumed. :yeshrug Haven't had Time Warner or seen a Time Warner commercial in like ten years down south. Maybe Time Warner just got kicked out of this market.

It's been about Comcast, DirecTV, and Dish Network over in Houston. Time Warner got kicked to the curb a long time ago. It's kinda like Earthlink. I was amazed when I heard they still exist a few years back.
-
Too bad they didn't buy Time Warner (CNN, HBO, etc.). The bitter tears would've been glorious.
-
.... and now Webex is down nationally fuuuuuu~ >:(
Today sucks.
-
In unrelated news, streaming speeds for netflix plummet nationwide
-
THankfully, the bore is still up :rejoice

Time Warner vacated the Houston market and sold their existing contracts to Comcast when they left. This was like 2006 or maybe even earlier.

Time Warner and Comcast agree'd to operate in different territories. Which is why you don't see them in the same market. Which is why this is being allowed since there's no direct competition.

Someone needs to kill the lobbyist it's as simple as that. Let the FCC/FTC/DOJ look at this and realize two wrongs don't make a right. My personal thought is that the lobbyists that both of these companies have are going to kill off any hope we have of regaining net neutrality. And if we continue as a people to allow this shit to continue in front of us and don't do anything about it, we'll have no one else to blame but ourselves for the rising costs of cable tv and internet services. As well as the caps and restrictive levels of service these companies wish to impose on us. Write your local representatives if you don't agree, make some noise. If the LBGT can turn up the volume on their issues why can't others about other evils this country is faced with? Are these things not worth fighting for?
