I'ma be all over Farming Simulator. I'm expecting backlog to be massively beefed up this week.
-
Out of all these, on Game-on-Demand I own a bunch of them on disc, as yet unopened. :'(
For the XBL stuff, I've got most of the ones I want already, luckily from similarly-priced sales. The only ones really tickling my fancy are Portal 2, Driver: SF, and maybe Asura's Wrath. But I only have 5GB open of 250GB on my HDD, and don't need to increase the backlog to include to-be-downloaded games. :-\
Motocross Madness is a steal at that price. It's a simple game, but well-presented and plenty of content to buzz around in.
-
I was going to buy Asura's Wrath, and then I remembered Japanese deve-lepers hate Achievements or at least don't understand or care how they work, so I peeked at the 'cheevos, and sure enough there are a bajillion "get a 'certain number' of these kills" descriptions. WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU BEING SO GODDAMNED COY ABOUT? Jesus H. Hoppity Christ on a pogo stick, why does this have to be the subject of a guessing game? Why do you hate gamers so much?
I've had some sake this evening. Japanese people know how to make some hooch, I'll say that. They're not so fucking great at Achievements, though.
-
iirc magoose had to play it like 4 times to get 1000 :shaq2
-
Yup, requires a minimum of 4 plays if you want all 1000. It goes pretty quick though, since fights zip through and you can skip cutscenes.
-
$20 for angry birds :heh
-
Yesss! I'll finally be getting Portal 2!
-
Yup, requires a minimum of 4 plays if you want all 1000. It goes pretty quick though, since fights zip through and you can skip cutscenes.
Damn, how long is a playthrough if you blast through?
I don't 1000 as many games as I used to, due to all the sales I've been tending to start new games before I complete them. It's a real battle between me and my OCD with cheevs lol
-
I was also tempted by Capcom's Arcade Cabinet, until I saw that it's just the cabinet, and all the other games which go in it are another $25.
-
Yeah it's a wack and misleading product that one. I got the whole all in one pack for 1000MSP and 200MSP for the core package, so that was a good deal for all the games. They are very crusty old arcade titles though, and half of them aren't necessarily classics.
Was worth it just to experience first hand just how stupid hard Gun.Smoke. is.

FIFA 14 $59.99 $29.99
Bejeweled 3 $14.99 $1.04
Bejeweled is prob a good deal and Peace Walker looks nice too.
So far I've grabbed Dust, Asura's Wrath, and Hell Yeah!
-
I waffled on Asura's Wrath despite my ongoing hatred of J-cheevos, but managed to resist one more day.
Is Driver: SF any good? That's the real conundrum for me.
-
Its aight. Gets very samey.
-
Picked up Peace Walker HD for 5 bucks. Looking forward to playing it as I never played it on PSP

Kinda tempted by The Cave and State of Decay, but cant really justify any more purchases as I have a nice little pile of games here which will keep me going for the next couple of weeks at least.
Dark Souls and Red Dead are steals at those prices.
-
This sale is amazing for someone like me who skipped most of this generation. Thinkin I'll do fall out 3 and red dead redemption
-
You're only saving $10 off Amazon's price for RDR and DSouls. I picked up Orange Box.

Is there an alternate plane of reality where this sentence makes sense?

What is confusing about it? Let me help you.
Online retailer Amazon.com (AMZN) is offering the Microsoft XBox 360 video game Red Dead Redemption with all Downloadable Content for the price of $21.99, as compared to $7.49 with no Downloadable Content included.

Not much for a premium for ownership of a Digital Versatile Disc that doesn't take up Hard Drive Disc space on your Microsoft XBox 360 Home Entertianment System.
Is that better?
-
In what world is owning a disc superior to the digital version? The world of puny hard drives?
-
In what world is owning a disc superior to the digital version? The world of puny hard drives?
In Nintendo's world. Your 3DS or Wii U gets stolen or breaks? You're fucked since you can't access your purchases on a new device.
-
In the world of new games it is, too. Buy a $60 digital turd, stuck with it forever. Buy a $60 disc turd, flip that shit for $45 and call it a rental.
-
I wouldn't buy that Fallout 3, either. For $15 you can get the GOTY edition with all the DLC on disc just about anywhere now. Costs $25 to get it all on XBL.

:lol
That's VERY true.
-
Or for less than five bucks I can play the main game and get on with my life without going into the dangerous outdoors!
-
In what world is owning a disc superior to the digital version? The world of puny hard drives?
Yes, also known as the world of XBox 360 where 250GB is the max
This is also the world of Microsoft shutting down GFWL and making all of your purchases invalid, so good luck fridge cleaning when they take 360 to the woodshed
-
:yeshrug
I get like 5 hours a week max I'm playing video games, I don't really need all my purchases installed at once.
Has there been any sign of them shutting down the servers for 360?
Quit being a negative nancy, let me play my cheap games.
-
Well, the expansions for both RDR and Fallout 3 are really good, is all.
-
In what world is owning a disc superior to the digital version? The world of puny hard drives?
In every world. I plan on eating lots of butthole in my room filled with shelves, so I can think about what game I want to play afterward.
-
:bow a room full of gaming bullshit :bow2

Nope, not completely.
The DLC argument makes sense; there have been times I've purchased the original game cheaply only to realize the GOTY edition is now available with all the DLC included for the same-or-less. That usually stings.
The Dark Souls case doesn't make sense because the consumer gets 66% off the price for the same game, and it's a game with no resale value anyway.
Space on my HDD is a reasonable point, except that I can download it again at any time. MS is Very Much Not Likely to sunset the XBL Marketplace or the 360 ecosystem any time soon.
-
But Publishers are more than willing to de-list the content so you can never buy it again.
-

You're right about the 360 ecosystem staying up for a while but MS already shut down the original Xbox Marketplace and they're closing up GFWL. Doesn't give me much hope! :'(

Demi, de-listing something so no new consumers can buy it, YEARS AFTER IT HAS LAUNCHED, is likely not cutting into their profits much. Are you envision some future where Porsche at Nόrburgring can't be purchased by somer kid 10 years after its launch because the dev/pub lost the license to Porsche, and had to delist it?
Slimey, I hear you on the original Xbox Marketplace. I was surprised that they were shutting down the Halo servers, essentially on the eve of Halo Anniversary Edition or whatever becoming available to purchase and play on the NEW hardware. I can't imagine there were hordes of people playing it on OG Xbox, but it was a cause for dissonance.
-
They shut down Halo 2 years before Halo Anniversary, and are killing GFWL when year-old games depend on it. Sony shut down Gran Turismo 5 and removed their DLC also.
The bad resale value of Souls makes a physical purchase better, not worse. You can get that shit for like $6 on Amazon if you don't care about new.
Anyway if you didn't want Dark Souls for $15 I can't imagine why you'd suddenly want it for $5. That's a Wendys combo
-
Dark Souls doesnt matter either way, the DLC isnt available physically.
I bought Borderlands 2 GOTY today, because now I can share that content with all my friends. Physical releases :bow

Ah, well, now you're changing your example. If the cost of getting the game at all is $6 (or is this one of the non-Prime shipping options, where they're charging $4 more for shipping?) then it's a matter of spending $1 to get a physical copy shipped to you, which you can in turn resell for about 25% or so of that, or you can purchase and play it immediately.
It's worth noting that we're also now arguing about "investing" in a game which costs less than a lattι and scone at Starbucks.

Overlord II $14.99 $4.94
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion $14.99 $3.74
Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DONT KNOW! $39.99 $19.99

I'm still waffling on NiGHTS, which I wanted at the time, but now looks just ugly as hell.
I wish Metro: Last Light was cheaper, and wish I cared enough about RTS/city sims to get Tropico 4.
Limbo's tempting as well, but eh.

You're the one who brought up the game's poor resale value lol, which is a benefit to a latecomer and not a deterrent
You've arrived back at my original statement, that a mere $10 in savings isn't a very strong driver for me to get something. If I actually want the game, the $10 wasn't stopping me to begin with.
You're taking that real personally though so we can just agree to disagree.
-
your point is fucking stupid because youre trying to argue that saving $10 is somehow not a good thing
-
ok
