Title: Google's Wisdom 2.0 is hilarious
Post by: Himu on February 19, 2014, 03:23:19 PM
Okay, so like, Google has a conference on allocating wisdom and mindfulness. Mindfulness in the spiritual sense, but...get this, corporations.

So they got these three gurus sitting on a couch, and then these protesters come out with a sign, and they're protesting Google and other tech companies lack of concern for public infrastructure and the people it affects.

What happens next is sheer comedy. Video below:

This has been making a ton of rounds around spiritual/buddhist circles and it's quite cute.

Here's a great recap on it:

Both informative and insightful.

Slick, hipsterish dudes come out like the cops and, like the cops, show whose side they’re really on.

It's just part of the game. Google's brilliant because all the concessions Google makes to their employees like the free time and work environment they have is designed to produce happier, and therefore better/more ingratiated/happy employees. This co-opting of spiritual practices is just an extension of that; an attempt to fill the gaping hole in the souls of the modern man.  The protests are kinda corny though. You're not gonna end the capitalist paradigm by trolling google events (http://www.thecoli.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/flabbynsick.png)

I was just reading an SF story by someone who was basing their office location based on physical proximity to an internet hub; oh, wait, no, it was a news article about stock trading and having the milliseconds there be some kind of difference in their overall success. Shit, no, wait... it was a short story. It's getting so I can't tell these days, with so much near-future fiction flooding the space.
