Title: wtf is a vertex shader

It produces vertices. how does that constitute "shading"  ???  ???  ???  ???  ???

I've never really known why they were ever called shaders instead of drawers or "virtual artists" or something. Wikipedia says it's Pixar's fault apparently.

A shader does vector math on pixels

A shader can also do math to verts

There ya go
