Title: I actually spent money on IAP last night
Post by: The Sceneman on May 07, 2014, 06:24:55 PM: I have never done this before. It felt so gnarly doing it. I felt like I'd stepped over a line as a gamer or something. I spent minutes deliberating my purchase and ended up doing it. That about wraps it for me and videogames.

I bought a pack 100 in game "Bux" in Pocket Trains, for 1.29 NZD. They were damn helpful I have to admit - really helped my fledgling railroad gain additional operating capacity.

Post by: chronovore on May 12, 2014, 06:13:50 PM: I purchased IAP for Battle Nations twice; once because I wanted to throw them a bone, and once because I wanted a couple higher-tier units. These days, I feel silly for it, because I hit the later-game "you won't pass this without IAP or near-infinite patience" wall, and felt suckered.

I bought some gems in Clash of Clans for the same reasons, but now they've become more generous with the premium currency for free in game.

Considering how many hours I played each of those games, I'm still into them for way, way less money-per-hour than any retail boxed game, even a used retail game.
