I understand why they're doing it, but at the same time it makes me sad.
Cue post about PD jacking off to Jet Beauty of the Week :beli

So like one of the few ways to see black people represented in the magazine section is gone?
-
There's still Essence, Ebony, Black Enterprise, and some of those ratchet fashion mags.
-
Damn, I remember my parents having a Jet subscription and it always being on the coffee table. I don't think I read it once.

Don't worry, the rest of the magazine section is gonna be gone soon too.

I dunno. The tabloid ones seem to hold on pretty strong.
-
In a better world those would have died first.
-
Read it alot when I was a kid. It was a decent enough way to keep up with current events back then. Haven't read it in years. Which is probably part of their problem.

Yeah anything sold by a grocery store register seems to do alright. But Oprah is right there with the rest of those boring ass mags so that's something.
-
Read it a lot as a kid too. I especially liked reading the real old ones my grandma collected, from the 70s.
I busted my first nut to a Beauty Of The Week in a Jet
:uguu

I was the same for some reason.
-
My grandma didn't collect any. Shame.
Stoney, they're making an app. So maybe you can get your current event news better now? I still find Jet, Ebony, Essence;etc great for black american culture news.

There's still National Geographic

The reality is the internet has just destroyed the reason for these type of magazines to exist outside of older people who aren't computer literate or just older people in general. Jet is just too late here.
There is a bit of sadness there because I feel like I grew up on Jet and while I wouldn't call it an educational magazine, its certainly more educational than WorldStar which is where my nieces and nephews seem to go to get informed. :'(
Old Man yelling at clouds.

Well, I can't think of any good sites that have a pulse on black american culture as good as ebony/jet/essence :tocry Thankfully they're making an app or something.
