Who else gets these? How are these even a thing?
Most worthless animal. Don't know if they disprove evolution or disprove the existence of God.

Agreed, they're awful. I went to work one morning last month and there was a pile of junebugs in the parking lot that was literally a foot high underneath one of the large outside lights. :yuck
-
I...don't think I've ever seen those.
-
Fuck they're dumb, even for an insect.
One got inside tonight and I grabbed a paper towel and stealthily inched my way towards it. When I was about a foot away it flipped over on it's back and was just laying there all

Never seen this shit
-
Yeah, those are new to me as well.
Say, can any of FloridaBore or SouthernBore tell me what those insects are that look like mosquitoes, but apparently don't bite?
Just about any place with lights on at night gets swarmed by them, it seems. I was trying to fill up a rental car during a family trip in FL once, and goddamn if the locals didn't find my "holy fuck it's mosquitocalypse!" dance around the car to be completely charming and laff-worthy.

Cleaning your car of these. :lawd Why.
They apparently migrated from Central America to the South-East in the '60s. :goty

Crane flies?
-
Ewwww, I hate them. The worst is when you're trying to sleep but they keep banging against the screen window (bzzzzz, ping x a million). Fuckers.
-
Crane flies (or skeeter eaters, a misnomer, they don't really eat anything) basically just exist to be eaten by birds.
-
I wish all bugs would just die. Is that wrong?
-
JUNEBUG SPADE.
-
I...don't think I've ever seen those.
Odd, because we get quite a few of these fuckers right next door in southwestern Ontario
-
I've never seen those before either. The name sounds more...cheerful than the insects appear. I was expecting something ladybug-ish.
-
Did somebody say Junebug?

How have these things survived for so long? They're the stupidest goddamn things I have ever seen. Every time I go out for a cigarette there are like 5 on the ground under the porchlight, on their backs, just writhing cuz they're too fucking dumb to figure out how to flip over. What a bunch of asshholes.

I CAN CONCUR, FUCK LOVE BUGS.

Yes, we need bees at the very least.

Crane flies?
Crane Flies are like oversized skeeters; these Florida things looked JUST LIKE mosquitoes, but nobody was reacting to them, so I assume they were not mosquitoes.

Yeah I dunno, we have a billion different insects flying around in the summer and mosquitoes are unavoidable so not a lot of people react to insects around here. You probably did see a mosquito. On the flip-side there's also a gigantic population of lizards and other insect eating animals so the balance is kept. Except for Love Bugs, fuck those monstrosities.
-
Thanks.
So, I probably had mosquitoes so thick that they swarmed and covered the entire side of a 15-person cargo van in 30 seconds, and people were like, "Yeah. Those are mosquitoes. Big deal. Why is he freaking out?"

Oh. :lol
That's kind of nuts. Certainly doesn't sound like mosquitoes. It actually sounds like love bugs bug they're clearly different than mosquitoes, so I dunno!
