It's the only "next gen" system I own. Don't have a PS4 or Xbox One. Wii U, PS3 and my Mac is what I have.

And I've prob got about 10 Wii U retail games too.

Not gonna lie, seeing as 90% of PSbone4's output can be found no PC, Wii U is actually a worthwhile purchase if you own a somewhat decent PC  :yeshrug

And if you don't own a somewhat decent pc -  :sabu

Don't tell me you don't like "Nintendo's games"  :comeon you grew up on that shit and if you don't like it you can go back to playing babbyz first CoD :ufup

I like consoles because of the ease of use. Don't need a gaming PC.

I'm happy with my WiiU since I'm more of a backlog-based gamer anyways. There was a long period in the 2000s where a ton of RPGs came out that I haven't yet caught up on so I've got enough to hold me over until the big WiiU/PS4 games come out. I'll be getting a PS4 at some point though.

You know what? Nope.

When I bought Binary Domain off steam, the game did'nt run. No real reason. I had to search for the steam forums to find a thread talking about the same problems I had. Turns out I had to download this Graphic Config tool made by fans to fix the game just so it could start up.

For Skyrim, whenever I went into a cave it would switch to window mode and the FPS would drop way down. 60 FPS on High outside, so it's not my computer. Had to download a fan patch to fix this problem.

Battlefield 3 for some reason had punk buster screw me over and not allow me into any game. So instead of actually playing this game. I had to re-download and install it when punk puster's config tool failed to fix whatever the problem was.

Max Payne 3 wouldn't even start up thanks to the Rockstar Social club. I had to find away around it and again searching through the steam forums helped.

Guild Wars 2 just stopped randomly working and of course the answer was to re-install the game. No I had to talk to customer service to get some config tool to fix a problem with a certain set of files.

FEAR 1 dosen't even run on my computer for whatever reason.

Had to mess with certain files to get Arkham City running at a decent framerate even though a few months before playing I played Origins fine on high settings.

Crysis 2 seems  to run fine some days and then like crap for no obvious reason the next day.

Getting the Witcher 2 running is a fun and pretty long story. Though I'm not even sure whats wrong with The Witcher 1 as it ran fine on my laptap, but apparently my desktop can't run it despite being fine with Witcher 2.

These are the only problems I remember recently, but I'm sure there have been more.

For pretty much all of the console equivalents I just put in the disc and it goes no problems at start-up, no nothing. Get a perfectly fine version with none of the hassle I've had many times on PC.

Also I'm not stuck with Watch Dogs on consoles.

Like I'd wait for games I actually want to play to go on sale.

Not like you're going to play those games or even install them so you're wasting money anyway.

You know some games i would pay full price for but from third parties i need demos to do that.  I need some kind of evidence that they are taking care with their games now.  And most games they are not which is probably the reason why they dont make demos any more.  With pc games you have fans that FIX these games if they are good enough.  That is the beauty of pc gaming.  Skyrim has everything fixed from its combat to the graphics to sound.

to reiterate THE STAKES CANADAIANS opinion - i played 30+ hours of PS3 of Skyrimp and suddenly... oh shit... exponentially horrid load times doing shit followed by LET ME SNACK ON YOUR FRAME RATE until i was stuck in a Victorian slide show shit fest....

I did the only sane thing....

I switched to the Xbox version... and played about 2 minutes
then...
Got the game in the steam sale....

i played it for about 2 minutes so i could go "oooo Graphiscs and shit!"

and hence from there it has sat ... like a eunocks hardon.

so my net net from this is.... Fuck the WiiU, it's a load of overrated wank.

Did you atleast watch the cutscenes on youtube for XC?  The best story bar none even if a bit atheistic.  I am playng through it on emulator right now actually.  There are far too many side quests.

As for SSB, it is either a love or hate game.  I personally love it because it gets rid of dial a combos and people actually play that game when people are over.

I recommend watching the cutscenes on youtube then.  You werent even 1/4 of the way in the game.  As it take most people 80 hours to beat it or 200 hours for everything.  The early scenes i agree werent particularly great.

yeah, i think it's pretty funny most people aren't seeing what's going on here with MH.  it's not about moneyhats or install bases, really.  it's about where they can get away with recycling the PS2-level assets again and again while still hitting a moderately active crowd. 

i do hope for the sake of the fans that someone buys capcom and gets them to take that scary step with the series, but i also don't know that there's financial call to do so given the state of things in japan.

Seems like Capcom is being smart with MH. With budgets ballooning, they're still managing to sell a series to people that's basically still using assets that are 10 years old. If more companies figured that out, maybe there wouldn't be this looming crisis in the industry.

i think most people only jumped in with MH3 because it was the first monster hunter game with online capabilities so for them MH is a fresh series even though there has been a bajillion of them on psp

Mobile I'm fine with. iOS specifically would be trickier. If MHFU was on Android in addition to iOS I'd already have it installed.

I followed House of the Dead from arcades, to Wii, to mobile, MH won't really be much different. I do reserve the right to bitch about controls when the time comes, but MHFU iOS seems at least doable.

MHO has actual 360+ level assets but from most accounts it's one of the least MH-y games. :larry

I want to want Xenoblade Chronicles, but JRPG tropes are indeed a bit off putting. There's something about English voice acting over Japanese games that is almost universally shit as well -- it's had me go from loving these games to hating them ever since the PS2. It looks like it has more of a JRPG mass effect vibe or something this time, story-wise (space caravans, survivors, alien menace etc). I'd say that might help, but it might just make it more daft. I really like the look of it, the world and creature design looks like it will be great - but I worry I'd be fighting through badly written screamy / shouty drama and introspection at some point. If it gets great reviews (I suspect it might), I'm in.

Damian -- magus is super critical on story for unnecessary reasons. I wouldnt put much weight on what he says, imo. He is like the old man yelling at the cloud.

Xenoblade is awesome as fuark. Xenoblade 2 will be awesome as fuark too.
