I'm hoping for even a 25-33% discount on Divinity: Original Sin. It's supposed to be coming out of Early Access next week.

Not gonna. 50%, at best. I'll probably pass; thoroughly enjoying Dark Souls now and will probably want a bit of a break when I'm done with it.

I feel like trying The Witcher 2. Looking forward to a <$10 sale.

It's turn-based. It's isometric. You control a party of characters. You can kill anyone and steal anything you want to. You can make the two main characters argue with each other during dialogs.

You can make the two main characters argue with each other during dialogs.

Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot?  So... the Gollum / Smeagol experience?   :lol

Is there a reason you would want to disagree with yourself?

It's designed around the game being co-op, two people can argue over how a situation is to be handled in the dialog [one PC wants to give the ring back to the old man, the other PC wants to kill the old man and keep the ring, for example]. But since not everyone is going to play co-op, you can either have one of the characters use an AI to determine their dialog choices or just play both roles depending on what kind of personality you want each character to have. It's not really a game-defining feature, but it's a nice little bit of flavor.

I've read the guys blog about Democracy 3 and improvements and everything but Democracy 2 and 1 were so broken in weird ways. And it really felt like it should be a feature of another game like Civ or Tropico. As a standalone it just wasn't very compelling.

To note again, I haven't played Democracy 3 at all.

Had a chance to try it out yet? Any impressions?

I didn't play until later last night. I tried a few rounds but there is a lot to deal with. You basically choose to be 1 of 7 nations with their current budgets and debt which I didn't care for. Makes it pretty hard to do anything meaningful. If you do something meaningful, like cutting the military budget and giving the money to programs for the poor, conservatives will try to assassinate you. Cut programs for the poor and taxes and liberals will try to assassinate you. No matter what you do, it will make a group of people mad. Just like IRL.

In 2 you could basically just bump up things a little and enact small things while keeping taxes not far beyond and keep winning by pleasing whatever the largest groups were and ignoring a few until they got too low then you give them a couple peanuts and they'll shut up for a while.

There was also a debt limit in the game, where you could run up it to near infinity for six or seven elections with 95% of the vote because there's no taxes either but then you would get invaded or something and overthrown by the IMF.  :lol

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY THIS GAME. Seriously, look how many hours I've played: Over a thousand.

People make fun of MMO players because they spend so much time working for imaginary goals, but at least they're hanging out with friends and collaborating. I've just been sitting here alone in my underwear in the dark. FOR 1000 HOURS.

I used to be like you. I had friends and family, hobbies and interests. I used to cook for myself and clean my apartment once in a while. I used to have house plants for god's sake!

I thought becoming king would take a week or two of gaming sessions at most. I WAS WRONG. Please, if there's anything you value in life, don't buy this game.

I'm starting to feel that they have to be patching that. It wasn't on the store for like a year, then it came back, and now it's been on sale twice recently.

Unless they're just trying to milk as many people as possible before GFWL goes down.

Bound by Flame is actually pretty cool, good for when you're down for some Eurojank. It feels a bit like the first Witcher game, kind of that level of jank but maybe a bit more polish overall. Way better than Mars: War Logs, which was a guilty pleasure of mine from a last year, more polished, more fun, more gameplay variety. Other than just the feel of it, the different fighting stances remind me a lot of the original Witcher, right now I can switch between a heavy two-handed sword and two quicker one-handed swords [which also allows for stealthily sneaking up on an enemy and getting in a higher damage hit to start things off] depending on how I want to tackle each encounter. And the game's tough, too, I've gotten killed several times because I got careless and let an enemy get in some quick hits on me. The dialog is fairly well written and the voice acting is a bit stiff, but serviceable and not grating. And you can play as either a male or female character, if that's something that means anything to you.

$24 might still be a bit too much for some people, but if you're looking for some Eurojank this is where you'll find it.

Bulletstorm was GFWL, right? So would it be pointless to buy the Steam version?

It still is. But for $5, can't really say you lost much money if you play it right now, you know?

Wait, I don't get it.  It says on the X-com page it's a daily deal at 80% off with 12 hours remaining...but it's not on the front page?  Are there daily deals I'm missing out on by going by the front page?

Hmm, might bite on X-com at that price.  Like the setting, but don't know if I'll like the gameplay.

Yeah, that's one of the things I always forget on the first day of each sale, that when something is a daily/flash/community sale usually the entire franchise has been extra discounted. It's not always true but it is often enough like Far Cry 3 was on the front page which I already had, but Blood Dragon was also discounted to $3.74 so I had to snag that.

The DLC's are essentially two additional maps and main questlines, along with a minigame where you can build a bigger house than is available in the base game in Hearthfire. So...no, not required to enjoy the base game, but imo, playthroughs with all the DLC installed adds a lot of variety to an already really dense game.

On a Steam sidenote, I really wish Wolfenstein ET could get put on Steam. It would no doubt revive the player base to a degree, since it's pretty complicated to download the game/patches now. And it might even lead some people to create a HD update for the game, which I've dreamed about for ages.

No one really wants to craft.  :lol It's why one team is completely lop-siding the others. When you're able ot craft point steals, it's like "well why should we craft?" Team mechanic was stupid. I thought about metro last light too, but they just announced that redux thing.  might as well wait for that.
If you own either of the Metro games on Steam you can get 50% off the Redux versions. Saves like seven bux on 2033 and five on Last Light. (If you want it at launch or nearby instead of waiting for sale on it.)

Is the market just backed up, or have my cards disappeared into the ether? Some say "listing created" in the history, without a buyer or sell price, but they're not in my active listing. D:
edit: Never mind, it's indeed just backed up. They just took several hours to show up.

Metro Last Light Redux doesn't really seem worth it. With 2033 Redux, it's getting upgraded to the newer version of the engine they used for LL, so that might be kinda worth it, but the improvements to LL are a bit more subtle. I mean, from the description you're basically getting:

Quote
Fans of the original game will notice new features and gameplay improvements, including new melee animations, the ability to check your watch and ammo supplies on the fly, and new full-body player animations.

You want me to pay $12.50 for this? :gurl

Battleblock is $3.74 alone, but if you buy the publisher bundle (comes with BBT & CC), it's only $2.49. I thought I was being smart by buying BBT at $3.74 and waiting for the 90% off sale on CC.

Gabe proved me STUPID.

CC bundle is $1.13 per duder, if that's what you were asking.

It's linear horror made for cheap scares.  I played like 45 mins and it was fine, but a lot of people dislike it.  Enemies teleport and defy game logic just to BOO scare you.

I never played the DLC for blacklist so I don't know if its worth it or what it is. But it looks like the deluxe edition is only $2.50 more than the standard edition which is at 7.49.

As far as story Blacklist is a continuation of conviction but everything is self contained enough that it doesn't really matter. You aren't missing a great story from conviction.

Both games are very different gameplay wise from the early splinter cell games but I think blacklist justifies itself where as conviction doesn't.

Yeah, I played all the SC games and enjoyed them all even with their flaws until Conviction came out and the demo really soured me.  Never played Conviction and bailed on the series, but everyone says Blacklist is SC back on track so I'm gonna give that one a shot.  Still kind of sour that Conviction-homeless-fighter-edition never saw the light of day...

I'm going to give Origins another chance when I get my new PC next week.  It didn't run all that great on my old PC and was buggy as fucking hell-- got stuck at a part in the game where an event that was supposed to be triggered never happened, making it impossible to make any progress.   :-\

If Ikaruga doesn't go on sale for anything more than 50% off, I'll pull the trigger on it at the end of the sale. I had forgotten that it had come to Steam at all, and the game is easily worth $10, much less $5 or $2.50.

I am sorry but goat simulator was totally not good.  Did not live up to the hype at all.  Was fun for 15 mins running around in a little sandbox environment doing goofy stuff, but then there's nothing and it's just a sucky tech demo.

Is RE6 worth 10 dollarydoos?

I know it's trashy, but I can get some fun out of it, right?

Sure; I had fun with the Leon and Ada campaigns.

I'd put Ada's above Chris and Jake's, but :what . That campaign is pretty much poop from the butt the whole way through.

With the exception of Maybe Ada 1 or 2 (whichever is the castle) and Leon 1-2 4-5 (when they're in the city/post-terrorism events) the whole rest of the game is just bad.

Though, I'll give Jake's campaign chapter 3 some props for being visually interesting as a lab. Probably the first interesting lab for the series since 2's huge multilevel underground lab.

It's essentially an FPS [in the way the controls are structured], so there shouldn't really be any problems there.

you mean playing with keyboard and mouse?

my feeling playing it was that it's preferable to play with a kb/m.  more than most games due to player agility and verticality in levels.

For real. I bought the DVD-Rom for like $20 in 2011. Then when Origin launched, I redeemed the retail CD-key there since it wouldn't take on Steam. Now this sale for $10 means I finally get it on Steam to where I don't have to boot Origin outside of Battlefield 3/4.  :lol

Which ending did you get? Citra or your Friends?

The Citra ending is so so so so so so so so bad. Like, really.

The second island should've been unlocked sooner, and Vaas should've been the main antagonist. They could've dropped the entire human smuggling international business shit and just made him the main human smuggler that is doped up on drugs by a nameless corp or something (that isn't featured in this game) and the game would've been better off.

Which is why Blood Dragon is better than Far Cry 3. It's essentially the same game structurally but it's shorter and more focused. And it has better characters and is funny.

~$300 total, though to be fair I haven't bought much at steam sales for the last few easter/winter/summer sales.

And the only thing I've played so far is Broforce and some MK9.  Will play this stuff one day, maybe, hopefully, for now I'll read a book and relax.

So weird feeling like it's time to check the site again...

My list is really shameful this year because I had some extra money originally earmarked for something else I wound up not needing, so of course I was an idiot and spent all of it, though $11 or so of this garbage was basically free thanks to cards. Barely got anything last year looking at the list. (Tropico 4 DLC, Kerbal, QUBE, System Shock 2, CS:GO)

Games:
Ziro
Diamond Dan
Tiny Brains
Diehard Dungeon
ORB
Sid Meier's Pirates!
Yosumin!
Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe
Hexcells
Foosball - Street Edition
Goat Simulator
Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition
Super Amazing Wagon Adventure
Noir Syndrome
Can't Stop Laughing Bundle
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
Payday 2
Defense Grid 2 - Limited Beta
E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy
Shadowrun Returns
Papers, Please
Risk of Rain
Mount & Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars
Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword
FarCry
The Witcher 2
Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified
One Way Heroics
Battlepillars Gold Edition Double Pack

DLC:
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed - Upcoming DLC (Ryo)
Castle Crashers Pink Knight
Castle Crashers Blacksmith
Darksiders II - Season Pass
Darksiders 2 - Argul's Tomb
Darksiders II - Death Rides
Tomb Raider: Tomb of Lost Adventurer
Borderlands 2: Headhunter 5: Son of Crawmerax
Borderlands 2: Headhunter 4: Wedding Day Massacre
