I might give murricans flack at times because of their terrible healthcare system, the "fuck you, got mine"-mentality, and the belief that you guys are at the top of the world, but truth is - you guys are fucking awesome and an example to the rest of us freedom haters  :american

Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world, and you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind.

Mankind, that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interest. Perhaps it's fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation.

We're fighting for our right to live, to exist and should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:

We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!

We're going to live on!

We're going to survive!

Today we celebrate our independence day!

On the Fourth of July, citizens across the country will gather with friends and family to celebrate the United States of America and the Founding Fathers who established our democracy. Here are some facts you may not know about the founders of our country:

Handy mnemonic device, just remember its existence is kind of a lie. (It basically exists because it was far away when the Holy Roman Empire was reconstituted as a client state of the First French Empire.

That seems like way too much work for a country that's the size of a small county in Rhode Island.

It's hard to love America when our weak leadership doesn't and we're still in the dark about Benghazi. Maybe in two and a half years we'll have healed as a country.

Well like any not-really-viable nation-state in the 21st century, it's a tax haven, so knowing how to spell its name correctly is an occupational hazard given my line of work. You don't want someone to make a quip about hiding their money in Roy Lichtenstein paintings at your expense, it'd be devastatingly embarrassing.

Also there's the fact that I'm a repository of useless information. The more useless the better.

About the Declaration there is a finality that is exceedingly restful. It is often asserted that the world has made a great deal of progress since 1776, that we have had new thoughts and new experiences which have given us a great advance over the people of that day, and that we may therefore very well discard their conclusions for something more modern. But that reasoning can not be applied to this great charter. If all men are created equal, that is final. If they are endowed with inalienable rights, that is final. If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed, that is final. No advance, no progress can be made beyond these propositions. If anyone wishes to deny their truth or their soundness, the only direction in which he can proceed historically is not forward, but backward toward the time when there was no equality, no rights of the individual, no rule of the people. Those who wish to proceed in that direction can not lay claim to progress. They are reactionary. Their ideas are not more modern, but more ancient, than those of the Revolutionary fathers.

Played a non-metric ton of GTA Online in a patriotic Event-provided outfit, launched fireworks at other players, and nearly reached the penultimate goal; I'm level 98 now, nearly 99, and my final Achievement is for level 100.

Made tacos to spiritually and digestively support immigration reform and fed the family. Oddly enough there are no other Americans in my tiny burg, at least none I know, so it's not really a thing.

There were like 9 entries and I sampled all of them, because I'm fat and shit.

Bourbon Peach Ginger- this one was really good, although slightly undercooked and mushy in the middle.

Banana Toffee- also really good dessert pie.

Strawberry rhubarb- this was the general consensus "worst in show" and it really wasn't BAD per se, just too tart. A little more sugar would have helped it out.

Apple curry- a late entrant and served in individual little muffin tart things. Pretty good but not as good as...

Apple chorizo- fuck yeah, this was really good. Would eat again, etc etc.

Ham peach onion- a weird but strangely good savory pie

Tomato and cheese- this had like five different kinds of tomato and three different kinds of cheese in it. It was fucking awesome and in my opinion the best pie.

Blueberry cheesecake pie, garnished with strawberries and whipped cream because America- also really good.

Bourbon Peach Ginger won, Tomato came in second, and Blueberry cheesecake pie came in third.

i had an excellent 4th.

drank beer, blew shit up, did a 300 mile ride with my brother, drank more, watched "the conjuring" on a projector setup and screamed drunkenly at the screen, watched my other brother drunk-crash my mom's vespa into the parents' shed, wandered around the beach swearing drunkenly. it was SRS CAC BUSINESS.    :anhuld :PP :lenowned

Nope, I haven't. I'm guessing they're a smaller brewery with little distribution outside Michigan. I'll be in Ann Arbor over Labor Day, so I'll be up for some recommendations.

Really hoping I can sneak away to Kuhnhenn in Warren for an hour or two. Their beers are amazing.

Was at my gfs aunt's house on a lake in southern New Hampshire for the past few days... it rained like mad all over the northeast on the 4th so the fireworks celebration had to be put off until Saturday night. The rest of the weekend was spent checking out an amazing arcade/pinball place nearby, a bit of fishing, lots of eating and drinking, going to the shadiest flea market I've ever been to, getting asked really inappropriate questions by my gfs 14 year old cousin, and then stopping by Mohegan Sun on the way home and winning some money. All in all, a great way to spend the weekend of the 4th.
