Lager's lack of sympathy should take care of that.

Show her this thread and then she can be disagreeable with you for reasons you find acceptable.

a lot of the talk around pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding is super new-age hippy dippy

THE MIRACLE OF LIFE
A MOTHER'S NATURAL LOVE
YOUR BODY UNDERSTANDS EVERYTHING YOUR CHILD NEEDS
NAMASTE

nobody ever tells you "your skin will look like hell, you won't be able to sleep, your temperature is completely unregulated, and also biology is flaky as shit"

Lots of people do. They just don't listen.

I think the most important one is "you're not actually meant to do this alone".

Since I've got summers off, I'm home with my daughter during the day. We've been going to this nature adventure day camp thingy on Fridays which is a lot of fun, but some of the parents are really out there. I'm clearly not liberal enough for their liking.

How bad is the NAMASTE stuff on the west coast? It's not bad here but in GTAV it reminded me of people I know. :rofl

it's hard to pinpoint the exact characteristics of the washington new age hippie, but like porn, you know it when you see it.

also, my wife never really got 'pregnancy hormones' so much as she got 'pregnancy constantly vomiting', and despite going through hell once, she still wanted another one. :what

I was of course happy to do my part :phil

We're the hippie parents out here, simply because our child doesn't eat 3 packs of oreos a week.

Yeah, it's horrible. The best thing to do is keep communication open, never sit on your own concerns, but always be considerate of your partner, and realize they're going through crazy, terrifying things which affect them unprecedentedly  on a physiological level.

Not to mention the stretch marks.

Actually, that's good advice: never mention the stretch marks.

It's just kind of "ha ha ironic cultural appropriation (racism)" in my experience.

THE ROAD TO ENLIGHTENMENT IS A TOUGH ONE.
All enlightened beings suffer the same battle.

"Sooooooo... You're enlightened?"

YES. NAMASTEEEEEE.

"Weren't you just asking about meditation classes just the other week? Did you go to them like I suggested? It was a class for beginners."

YES. BUT ENLIGHTENED BEINGS ARE NATURAL. HERE, HAVE SOME WATER MIXED WITH FRUIT AND SEEDS. NAMASTE.

--------------

I really shouldn't be laughing at this person because it's basically gossip and gossip really isn't constructive.

But some of the western fueled take on eastern philosophy and religion is really, really bad culture appropriation. GTAV honestly nailed it. "STOP IT YOU'RE RUINING MY YOGA." That fucking game :rofl :rofl :rofl

That's totally unrealistic, Himuro.

...those sorts of people would never say "mixed" with fruit and seeds. It's always INFUSED.

As insufferable as they can be during pregnancy, brand new mothers are always worse.
