I have only played through the oracle games once. I still picked Seasons though.

I dunno, Minish Cap was way too short to be nominated at all, I think. Great game, of course but I don't think it would stand with the rest.

but the Oracle games are both better than Link's Awakening, which was godawful easy!

FINE, FINE

Hey, if you put on LA then it's only fair to have OoT on there too. You can leave the rest out, though. Now do it!  :punch

I never played the DX version of Link's Awakening, how was it?

OoT runs at 15 fps. It can't be the best Zelda.

At the threat of re-railing this joke thread:

LADX is easy, yes. But while Oracles and Ages have the best dungeons in the series, I felt that both suffered a bit from modern Zelda-itis in the amount of fetch-questing that had to be done between each dungeon. While better in parts than LADX, they also dragged at times...LADX has the better pacing and is thus the one I would choose as best. Minish Cap I felt did a much better job of balancing the overworld and underworld bits than either Oracle.

Still, at least here at EB we can have a real man's discussion about the real best Zeldas (Capcom's) and nobody is like "bu bu bu LINK TO THE PAST" which I dunno if you've replayed it recently but the dungeons are like 8 minutes long.

Exactly the same... except some weenie extra dungeon that sucked and gave you armor that was useless because cmon by then you've beaten the game and what?

LADX is the Ted Turner colorization of a gaming classic.

I agree that Ages suffered from some awful fetch quests -- especially on the lizardman island. But I think Seasons is wonderfully paced, even if its dungeons are bit weaker and more combat-heavy than Ages. Plus Seasons effectively upgrades the original Zelda by retaining the same dungeon names and general layouts, and massively upgrades the classic bosses. Onox and Veran were refreshing "final" bosses, just because they were incredibly tough and didn't feature the same general gimmick as Ganon always did.

Oracle of Seasons <3 <3

Outside of the original Zelda -- which holds up terribly today -- Link's Awakening was the first Zelda I really actually ENJOYED. Zelda 2 and LttP were both pretty weak.

I really enjoyed Zelda 1 when I replayed it earlier, but it was more for a post-modern deconstruction of how the game was stored in NES memory yet still created the illusion of an expansive overworld than, well, gameplay. Plus Zelda 1 is a light afternoon's romp.

Did you pay for it on Virtual Console?

Have you VCed anything yet, or will you resist?  You have to at least get something so you can have the full Wiinis experience.

8 dollars is the "Fun Size" of gaming.

Awesome.  Are you up for playing tonite, or will you be involved in more alco-bukkake?

What if the Wii ROM runs better? THEN WHAT?
