•Claire Redfield will return as the playable lead and it is said that “In the time since we last saw her (Claire), she’s grown to be a seasoned veteran.”
•Claire will be joined throughout the campaign with Moira Burton, daughter of the legendary Barry Burton.
•The campaign will be playable in co-op or singleplayer.
•When playing as Claire, her style will be more combat focused. Whereas Moira will be supplying Claire with health herbs, provided the flashlight and general support.
•Claire will be the only player death that will result in a Game Over, one of Moira’s key roles will be to help keep Claire alive (though Claire can obviously heal herself).
•The story will take place on an abandoned island detention facility.
•The campaign will begin with Claire and Moira awakening after being abducted.
•The events will take place between the events of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.
•Gameplay will be much more Survival Horror orientated (much like the first Resident Evil: Revelations), bringing the series back to its roots with less over the top action, unlike Resident Evil 5 and 6.
•Fan feedback has played a part in the development of Resident Evil: Revelations 2. Producer Okabe said that “The project has been finding the line between listening to fan feedback and also doing something different to confound expectations.”
•Okabe also said that “I want this to be both a game that doesn’t lose what made its predecessor great, while also bringing something new and exciting to the Resident Evil series.” He also added that “Achieving that lofty goal by bringing together past and future will make this an itchy-tasty prospect indeed.”
•Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will feature a new “Afflicted” enemy type, which “may look like zombies, but are in fact something quite different.”
•The Afflicted enemy will be both fast and able to deal heavy damage to the player. It is also said that they will force the player to decide whether to take them head-on, sneak up using stealth and applying a take-down or the player can run for the hills and “preserve ammo”.
•Resident Evil: Revelations 2 will run at 1080p and 60fps (for the PC and new gen versions at least).

Wow. Clare looking rough in those scans there. I seriously hope that's not the final version.

There's something about the way this looks that has me wondering if the game is being outsourced to a western dev.

Carcinogen is doing a RE "storyline" run. He's already done all the cool games, now he's doing the blah ones.

poor bastard. Capcom's re side games are inexplicably some of the worst games they ever released.
-
He's in the "Raccoon City" phase, theres still RE4 and the ilk yet. Even cool games like Dead Aim, lol.
-
Was the first revelations any good?
Yes. If you remember it's a 3DS game. There's issues with it, but it's farrrrr better than RE6 which released in the same time-frame.

Didn't it also get released on PS3 and/or 360 later on? Anyone know which version gives the best experience? Kind of interested to play it.

It got released for PS3, 360, Wii U, and PC later on. They added extra content to the Raid Mode, which is the game's version of The Mercenaries, and really a better version of the main game. Revelations is broken up into levels, and clearing them unlocks them for use in Raid Mode. The settings are the same, but enemies can be different and there's different versions of them to fight, plus 'loot' drops and stuff to collect, as well as 2P co-op play online. Why this stuff wasn't in the story mode I will never understand.
Anyway, the best version of the game is without a doubt the PC version, since with a capable setup you can run the game at 1080P/60 FPS (and you shouldn't need anything too powerful to get that). The console ports are 720P/30 FPS.
I really enjoyed the game. The biggest complaint I have is that there's just too few enemy types (and again, Raid Mode helps with this a bit). Melee also works differently in that you really have to let into enemies and stun them before you can do it-- it's not like other recent REs where you can melee like crazy to win.

Yes, but the core-game is still a handheld/3DS title.

http://www.capcom-unity.com/brelston/blog/2014/09/10/screens-art-and-details-for-resident-evil-revelations-2
If you recall, the original Revelations told its story with chapters divided into TV-like episodes (even featuring "Previously in Resident Evil Revelations" bumpers). This storytelling technique continues in Revelations 2, which will debut as four weekly downloadable episodes and then as a physical disc once the saga has unfolded.
