Title: Carb-ageddeon: Olive Garden announces their 'Never Ending Pasta Pass'

But on Monday, the casual dining chain whose business has seriously softened in recent years, will announce plans for its first-ever "Never Ending Pasta Pass" -- which, for $100, gives the holder the right to consume all of the pasta, salad, bread and Coca-Cola branded soft drinks that they can stuff down for seven weeks.

But you may need to act fast. Only 1,000 of these pasta passes will be sold -- beginning Monday at 3 p.m. ET -- online via the Olive Garden web site. Nothing like being one of 1,000 VIP's who can gorge on pasta for 49 days in a row. The PR stunt piggybacks with the chain's annual "Never Ending Pasta Bowl" promo, Sept. 22 through Nov. 9., which lets folks eat all the pasta they want for $9.99.

"What we're trying to do is get some attention," says Jay Spenchian, executive vice president of marketing. "It's sure to provoke a reaction."

They will still profit from that $100 since pasta, bread sticks, and salad don't cost shit to make.

only 1,000 passes? This is the kind of exclusionary classism you'd expect from a high end chain like olive garden.  ::)

Very tempted by this. I bought some wine recently (shout out to Esch), and the idea of chilling at home eating infinite alfredo and breadsticks while drinking a decent wine...and I just bought some veggies this week so I can spruce up the salad with some mushrooms and broccoli. Maybe get real #fancy and throw some oven roasted almonds in there.
:lawd

I can't eat that much pasta though. I wish I had something to celebrate. A normal personal accomplishment would warrant one trip, but if something bigger happened, like if I had a kid, it could definitely justify 7 weeks of pasta.

It was kind of a lame deal anyways, only lasted a few months. You would need to go at least eleven times in those few months to get your monies worth (since you can buy never ending pasta bowls for $10 a visit anyways). At that point it would become an obligation, and Olive Garden just doesn't sound as tasty when you are obligated to eat it.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A North Carolina man has used his “Never Ending Pasta Pass” from Olive Garden to eat 95 meals over the last six weeks.

Alan Martin bought the pass for $100 and says he has received $1,510 worth of food so far.

His goal is to continue eating Olive Garden every day, twice a day, until the pass expires on Nov. 9.

“I would love to be the person that ate the most of the 1,000 people. That would be a good contest to win,” said Martin. “Because that means I got the most value out of the card of anyone in the United States.”

The pasta pass is valid for all the pasta, salad, bread and Coca-Cola drinks a person can consume during the seven week period.

The pass was only made available to 1,000 people.
