I vote the former. Although, I really think it just gets going when it ends. I heard FOX Searchlight gave them some more cash for the sequels, so hopefully they'll have the budget to match the ambition. If anything, that's the fault here -- too ambitious. That said, there's some amazing camerawork for a foriegn film and the concept is golden. If they can flesh it out in the next two installments, I'll be psyched!

I enjoyed it.

I liked it. A lot.
Especially the futuristic subtitiles that dissolved into the water and moved all over the place on screen. Awesome.
The movie has it's problems, but I'd rather watch a move that takes a few risks and stumbles a bit because of it, than watch a movie that plays it safe. I would rate the movie a B+

I heard that Day Watch is fantastic from those who saw it earlier this year. What the fuck is taking FOX so long with the release over here?

I saw a boot of Day Watch earlier this year. Three times. I HATED it at first, and then grew to like it a lot. It's a LOT different in tone than the first movie. As in the whole tone. WAY different.
I honestly didn't LIKE it until my third time through. I haven't read any of the novels, though. But the first two films have different sensibilities, and take a bit for the viewer to adapt to it.
I'm really interested in seeing how FOX treats the sequel (theatre release?) and how the DVD is. IF it releases it.

I'd be surprised if they didn't. It has a following over here and they've dumped money in it. From the trailer, it looked more like a sexy thriller set in a gothic underworld than the kind of epic nature of Night Watch. I'm totally down for that, though.

I've seen the trailer at various places and was intrigued by it but haven't seen it. When it came out I actually actively looked for a theator in which it was playing and didn't find one close by. I really wanted to see it in a theater too. Ah well

Mediocre. I didn't hate it, nor did I love it, and I won't remember it a year from now.

I liked it, nothing amazing but I'd sit through another.
