Yes?
No?
Fuck you?
i keep seeing people reference this movie to mock people and it makes me feel like im missing out
-
It's decently crafted schlock. I wouldn't bother. The only thing to reference is the whole old man baby thing, there's not much else to the movie.
-
no. there's only one reference to get and it's the premise.
-
The lightning scenes doe
-
It's pretty dope.
-
It's the kind of movie PD would like.
-
Nope.
-
Saw it in the theater, wasn't impressed at all. Really feels like a bad remake of Forrest Gump - not in terms of using the same story but using the same types of emotional plot points, and they just don't land.
I was quite hyped for the film. Definitely has an interesting concept, great director. The movie starts out good, with him at the nursing home, but shortly thereafter it nosedives. And it's too long.

:rofl @ everyone calling it trash except squiddy
Hey, I teared up watching it with my ex-gf, which women love.

can't hate on squiddy's game. tears are the quickest way to a woman's vajeen.
-
There's some excellent CG and cinematography in it though. I really liked the boat scene and the Russian hotel scene. The ballerina scene was nice too.
But it's not cohesive at all and the ending is so ham-handed.
-
Brad Pitt has strange taste in women in that movie. Whetever floats his boat tho :derp
-
Thought it was even more schlocky than Forrest Gump, which is saying something. The short story it was based off is pretty dope though. Dude's mother actually gave birth to an old man, size and all.
-
Yo, it's seriously worth it for the lightning scenes
-
if he died on the boat it would've been a solid TV movie.
-
incredible effects, trite story otherwise
-
I was so hyped for this shit. It was announced in summer '05 and I sought out the books. I was seriously hyped. 3 and half years late and that shit...was whack. Great on a technical level but some serious bullshit otherwise. Fuck this film.

I feel you Stealth. I feel you :tocry
damn, I remember being so hyped for The Village. I even watched that scust worthy SciFi channel "special" on M Night. Every month ABC would have a new clip of the movie and I'd be all :noah
then I saw it in the theater :beli
I remember thinking it was meh ok on the first viewing, probably because theater views lead to inflated views no matter what. The real highlight was a fat black chick running out the theater when "the monster" started chasing that blind girl.
On my second viewing I realized it was trash, with the hint of a good movie hidden deep inside. The script is bad, especially the dialogue which is horrible. I understand M Night was aiming for a late 19th century vibe but the dialogue is just way too flowery and doesn't sound authentic.
-
first time i saw it, i was so bored i gave up about thirty minutes in.
second time i saw it, i saw the last twenty minutes or so.
i suppose it's not entirely bad, but i wouldn't recommend it.
-
Village has a few good scenes and a good score. I was on AICN back then and there were rumors about that shit being flabby. Shit was so sad :tocry
-
it's the only "Wtf?" in the Criterion blu-ray collection

Michael Bay's The Rock is there, and that movie sucks balls too.
:beli
-
A) The Rock is the shit.
B) I said Blu-Ray not scust ass DVD
-
Cage's action hat trick in the 90s :rock the rock, con air, face/off. it's hard to choose the best.
