Any chance they will drop the price on current models? Looking at getting a pad this holiday...
-
Get a refurb from Apple's website. You get a new battery and metal backing, and the same warranty as a new one.
-
Maybe, I will see what the holiday has for deals (primarily gift cards)
-
I treat Apple products like Halloween candy. Buying it the day of is for suckers: you save money buying it AFTER the hooplah. I got a 4S this year for pennies.
:win
just like imma get some Halloween candy in the first week of November on sale.
:win

Gamestop runs deals/clearances on used iPads all the time, too. You don't get the new battery/backing and warranty (other than GS's usual), and you'll of course want to inspect it in person at the store, but you can do trades towards it. Right now they have iPad 4 32GB for $329, for instance.

Baller with your 4S that runs like shit on the new iOS tho #AnnArborSwag

Dope. You set it up with Cricket yet?
-
I wonder what improvements the new ipad air will get. The current one is pretty much perfect hardware wise.
-
2gb RAM, supposedly. Gonna need it if they roll out split-screen apps. Needs it now, really, if you want to have more than two browser tabs open.

never heard of it
Brehs I use my phone for work and rare personal calls, and I browse the internet/porn when I'm in bed. Don't really use the music much since it's only 8GB and I have a 32GB iPod. I have a couple nerdy apps and Tinder, that's it.

No interest in split screen aps, but yeah smooth multi tabing is needed. Although I think it has gotten better lately? At least it doesn't seem to reload a page each time I switch between bore and neogaf like it used too. Always seemed more like a software problem to me, although I don't know shit about how demanding web pages are these days.

Price Drops:
Ipad Mini: $249 (why would you even consider this)
Ipad Mini 2 Retina: $299
Ipad Air: $399
New Models:
Ipad Air 2: starts at $499 (6.1mm thin, .96 lbs, screen fused to glass, 64 bit, 40% faster CPU, 2.5x graphics, 8mp camera Touch ID sensor)
Ipad Mini 3 starts at $399 (Touch ID, gold color option, everything else is the same as last year lol)
-
So the Air would be the best choice you think?
-
Yeah, if you can't wrangle up a discount or gift cards, the Ipad Air 16gb refurbs are $339 on the apple store
if you want to go any smaller the Ipad Mini 2 retina is $249 for the 16gb
-
Sorry, dude, I made a typo, Ipad Air (1st version) is $399
-
I'm looking at the store online now - Mini 2 sounds like the ideal choice. I could do 32GB for $350.
-
Yeah, that's probably the best bet for the price, stores will surely run specials around the holidays as well
-
huh, they don't have 32gb options for the Air 2 or Mini 3, just jumps straight to 64gb for the extra $100
-
Wait, you don't even get a better camera with the Mini 3, just that fucking fingerprint bullshit :lol
for $100 more :lol
-
Those prices look really good compared to the rumoured prices for the Nexus9.
-
That's already announced:

$399
-
Agree with demi on that Mini 2 for $350. Will wait until the holidays/check refurbs too.
The Mini 3 is a fucking joke :lol
-
I don't understand why the original Mini is a bad choice? They don't look bad, the size is decent for portability and e-reading, and the price is good.
-
Easy: Not Retina, weaker chip, half the RAM... get the Mini 2
Mini 2 has all this PLUS double space for $100 more? Jesus is steering you wrong, Andy.

Display is shit apparently.

Aside from the screen sucking ass, it uses iPad 2 hardware inside, which is almost 4 years old by now. If you're going to be cheap, buy the base original mini retina for $250 from Apple.

Prices aren't out for the european market I think. Although I guess it's the usual 1:1 conversion rate. You can now get a 32 GB Air 1 for 440 vs 400 for the 16 GB Nexus 9 or the 64 GB Ipad Air 2 for 599 vs 32 GB Nexus 9 for 499. If you factor in app support plus the additional time it will take for developers to adapt to the resolution of the Nexus 9, the Nexus just doesn't look appealing at all to me.
-
the Mini 3 means a nice cheap previous Mini as all the mongberts throw them out - not worth it, there's no upgrade at all basically
-
There is no Nexus 7 this year.
-
Just installed 10.10 on an external, I'm really surprised that the UI still looks so jarring, almost as much as it did in the first dev preview.
The icons look like shit, way too much contrast, and Helvetica as an UI font looks fucking garbage. Worst typeface change since IKEA switched to Verdana.
