So?
-
Just play Maniac Mansion bro...same effect much more fun.
-
Nah, I'd rather be out of the house among other people.
Getting Korean beforehand too.
Gonna be great.
I'd rather be anywhere than be sitting in a movie joint with a bunch of weird ass cac's shouting at the screen. Did it once, shit was frightening.
That Korea BBQ though? One of the reasons I miss Cali....

Oh you put me in a horror movie and my ass be sounding like a fire siren bro.

Took my first girlfriend on our first date to this. Didn’t know what it was about.

RHPS was the unholy marriage of nerd and theater kid culture. Internet/video game technology wasnt quite sophisticated enough (in the early 80's) to keep these people inside 24/7. So they created these things to coalesce around.

Dat Republican gay panic. (http://i.imgur.com/paV920Z.png)
I remember trying to get one of my ultraconservative friends to watch RHPS on DVD one Halloween when we were hanging out at another friend's house. He was like "I gotta go if you're watching that!" but we put it on anyway and he literally ran out of the house. I told him we'd turn it off if he came back in, but he ended up just sitting out in the yard for like an hour. :lol

Guys, even conservative hero Meat Loaf couldn't resist the temptation:

Did you show him what we've been watching on anime Sunday in October? :hitler

I've only seen it once, my family rented it on video back when I was in junior high. It was awkward and weird.

I can't hate on a movie that causes conservatives to throw themselves in the bushes though. :bow

We did watch Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust back in college, but that's pretty tame. If I could somehow trick him into watching Urotsukidoji, he'd probably curse me on his death bed. :lol

i haven't seen it either, and i never will.
-
i think the movie goofy fun that's built on classic horror and rock and roll tropes so of course i like it. never went to a live screening / audience participation thing though. not really my thing.
-
Those Hammer sets. :lawd
-
Esch is just too young to appreciate it. :-\ :-[
That said, I haven't been to an audience participation of it. But I have been to a live/Theater play of it. Was really fun.
Never seen the movie, though. :yeshrug

esch bb i don't think you're cac enough to dig it. it's not bad but nothing to go mad over.
-
I've never seen it, either, but I've heard enough quotes and seen enough FB meme posts to still feel like I've somehow watched it a dozen times

He was praying the gay away.

how was it perceived by the mainstream at the time wrt all the LGBT shit that's supposed to be in the movie. Can't imagine that went over well

The 80's were frickin weird and a bit bipolar with that. You had strong anti-gay sentiments all through pop culture and in real life interactions. It was all blatant and nothing was wrong about it. But you also had these huge music stars that would bend gender, or tease at being gay. You had movies and television specials that would play around with the ideas and preach acceptance. That was also all through the culture and was quite popular with the straight masses.

In retrospect, the 1980's were filled with a lot of self-hate.
