Title: Flash gotta go man
Post by: Mr. Nobody on November 02, 2014, 08:26:53 PM
I can barely participate in any "what are you listening to" thread anywhere because Firefox lags like shit for about 2 minutes because its loading 6+ embedded youtube videos. It's even worse when its a thread you don't expect this to happen in.

Not even gonna speak on the absurd amount of RAM it uses for HD vids longer than an hour and a half  :snoop

Chrome handles embedded Youtube vids better.

Really? I never thought it would since it does things like consider every tab it's own process.

Plus, I need my addons and almost every Chrome version is supposedly inferior

I agree. I'm on chrome so it isn't "as bad" but it's still a level of bad which unacceptable browsing the internet in 2014. One of these big companies just gotta really put it's foot down and say it's enough. We get google/yt to drop it along with apple and It'll be done quick.

I think flash may be trying to save me from myself, since it keeps crashing on the sunday ticket online site. it knows how I suffer watching my raidahs

Firefox doesn't crash often for me but every single time it does, it's flash related.

HTML5 can't be that scary, can it?

What magical version of Chrome are you guys using? Chrome works ten times worse on flash than Firefox does on my PC.

You can use the YouTube Center add-on to force the HTML5 player for embedded videos.

Agreed, I use Chrome for work (like their debugging tools better) and FF at home, and I can barely make it through a set on Soundcloud on Chrome without Flash crashing.

I have that and Firefox still crashes because of Flash.  I think it's a problem with the Youtube Center add-in...have read it causes memory leaks.  I hate the way that font looks in Chrome after a recent update.

Are you using the dev builds?

I've been seeing freezes on Twitter lately. I only check one feed regularly, but it locks up my entire system for several seconds every time I first load it. I can only assume that there's some script that's taking forever to execute (or fail, or get blocked).
