I bought my Mom an Android Tablet for Christmas. It's an Asus MemoPad 8, in case that matters at all. She's 84 years old, and does not have internet, so this is just for her to read, listen to on-device music and audiobooks, take pictures, and play simple games on (she likes word search games a lot). I have a few specific questions that maybe some of you all can help me with.
1. I'd like to get a simple launcher for her to use, where I can make it handy for her to access all the apps she'll use. I looked into it a little bit, but most of the stuff I saw was designed for phones. Are there any basic launchers for tablets out there? Big icons and fonts, etc?
2. I'd like to use my Google Play account credits to buy her apps and songs and books and such. If I make a user account for her, she'll have access to all the things I install under my name on her own user account, correct? Or is there a way to gift apps/songs etc? In other words, is there a best way to go about this?
3. Is there a good audiobook player out there other than Audible?
Thanks in advance!

1. Wiser seems pretty good. (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/3-best-simple-android-launchers-parents-grandparents/) Don't know about table optimized but if all you want is big icons, I'm not sure that matters. Buzz Launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buzzpia.aqua.launcher) is kinda a Metro-y arrangement of tiles that could work well.
2. Incorrect. I haven't touched multi-user stuff, but I doubt it would let you use it across accounts on the same device like that. You could try it I guess. Google Play does not allow gifting, either. My suggestion would be to sign into it with your Google Account since you said she doesn't have internet anyways.
3. I don't have any suggestions here.

I could have sworn this was the case with my Nexus 7, but I set it up over a year ago so it might not be.

I mean it might be. There's no downside to giving it a shot. I'm just thinking like a platform holder.

Thanks, fellas, will try out the suggested launchers. I found a ton of audiobook apps, guess I'll just go down the list and keep the one that's easiest to use.

Does Audible allow for non-Audible book loafing? I've never seen a place to add stuff that's not on their server.
