The final Dune game, and they STILL didn't get weirding right. It was fucking lasers just like that terrible movie. I read Dune in college and it rocked so hard I sought out this game and a universe book explaining all the cool Dune shit.
They'll never make a good movie, and will never release another game (http://i.imgur.com/DabVeN3.png)
I'm gonna go to the cheap used books store and get the Dune sequels Frank wrote. Fuck his son.

I don't want to live in a reality where HBO is not considering adapting this. :'(

:ufup

Dune makes the worst fucking first impression, but I'm glad I stuck with it cause it gets awesome. I really couldn't get into Dune Messiah.

Man Dune makes me sympathize with authors who want their unfinished transcripts burned after they die. Allow family members to destroy the shit you built brehs...
-
Enjoyed the book, should I read the sequels or watch the movie?

Were Hunters/Sandworms really that bad?

To be fair the quality of Frank's shit was steadily declining to the point of being unreadable dreck anyway, though I hear the kid's books are somehow way worse. Enjoyed the book, should I read the sequels or watch the movie?
I've heard nothing but mixed things about the two(?) films that were made, the first few book sequels are cool.

David Lynch's movie is definitely a mess, but

Lynch’s visuals were key to being able to finish the book, for me. I took three good stabs at the book before seeing the movie, always gave up about 50 pp. after my previous stopping point. Once I saw the movie, I was able to visualize everything better, and the book became an instant favorite.
I don’t think Jodorowsky would have made a Dune which North America would have found acceptable, but I think the visuals would have been even more amazing than Lynch’s Rococo/grotesque excursion.

I loved all the original Dune novels, through Chapterhouse. Shit gets real weird from Book IV on, but the Golden Path philosophy introduced is really interesting and makes the series quite unique.

Read it when I was in the 7th grade. Pretty mind-blowing experience for my first or second sci-fi book.
I really appreciated the Sci-Fi mini-series. It's was lacking in some aspects, but it really gets the whole story and is coherently told.
-
The miniseries just felt really cold and sterile after coming from the insanity of the Lynch movie.
-
The first three were fantastic.
The next three were ok I guess.
Everything that his son did? Those were so terrible they practically ruined the entire series retroactively.
-
I only ever read Dune, I tried reading Dune Messiah but I couldn't get into it. The first book was good though, and the Lynch movie was pretty rad for the visuals and the craziness if nothing else.
