Fun story- both Sam Elliot and Ben Gazara (Jackie Treehorne) were in Road House AND Big Lebowski.

Great movie.

I will say that the internet has ruined it a little for me. I felt like I was a special snowflake when I went to see it in the theater and loved it all those years ago. But now everybody of a certain age group also loves it and it seems less special somehow...

Same with Shawshank redemption. (I prefer the book version of Shawshank)

So what's The Big Lebowski of video games? We know Metroid Prime is the Citizen Kane.

Hmmmm....cult hit that was actually a great game nobody played that grew exponentially later in life due to the internet? I'm going to go with River City Ransom.

Not because of the subject matter but the Soul's series seems like the equivalent. It's normally the type of franchise that would have strictly existed within a niche of nerds and never escaped it. But it exploded over the internet and has now become a legit mainstream thing.

Nostalgia Critic had a decent recent video on something that reminds me of this topic.

One could see how you would have a healthy respect for a protagonist philosopher stuck in the mud of daily life who rises above all to instill a new sense of meaning in a town full of sheep.

"Take the biggest man in the world, smash his knee, and he'll drop like a stone"

:mindblown

Mmm ... Boogie Nights was better.

I love the Big Lebowski, but I just don't find it infinitely rewatchable like some of my other favorite movies.

The Big Lebowski actually improves with repeat viewings. I actually didn't care for it the first time I watched it, but now I do.

Yeah it's definitely in the Step Brothers tier of movies you have to watch more than once to appreciate.

It's probably a bit sacrilegious to say this, but Walter is my favorite character in the movie:

Walter could've had a movie revolving around his life and what he does day to day.

The only weak character is Julianne Moore's, every other character is instantly entertaining. Didn't feel like there was much going on with her personally.
