Looking to buy my parents a way to watch Netflix.
I figured at least Eel has bought and returned some of these multiple times, so trying to see whats the best and/or is the easiest to use.
Apple TV vs. Google vs. Amazone Fire vs. Roku
Thoughts?

I can't vouch for other streaming devices, but I got my mom a $50 Roku 1 and she likes it (it's solely her Netflix box).
The remote is simple and there is a Netflix button that takes you directly to that.
The downsides are you have to link the box to some sort of payment account (PayPal etc) to actually access the content, the Netflix UI is pretty mediocre and you can only log on via the main account (I tried to set up a sub account for her but she can't access it and just uses my main account)

I don't really mess with streaming devices. My fiance has a roku (2? 3? Whichever is the cheap one without the remote you can plug headphones in) and it works fine for Netflix, etc. - other than not being able to set up sub accounts as Archie said.

From what I've read roku is probably your best bet, as you're not locked into any particular ecosystem.

I'd go Roku. It's definitely the easiest to use, doesn't require anything external to control it, and is very cheap.

I've got a Roku, I really like it.

Chromecast, can be out of sight, works great.

I love my AppleTV, but I'm locked into Apple's ecosystem from since before it became an ecosystem.
If I was in the USA, I'd want something which does Amazon Instant Streaming, which the AppleTV DOES NOT.
The Roku's earphone-ready remote is a source of jealousy for me.

amazon fire tv stick is super simple and does Netflix.

Thanks guys. Ordered the Roku Stick.

An hdmi cord :teehee

I bought an Amazon Fire Stick thing when they were super cheap preorders, but have never even used it. Just stream on the PS3 right now.
