Title: I WISH CLERKS WOULD SHUT UP!
Post by: MrAngryFace on January 22, 2007, 04:32:50 PM
God damn, I went to buy Band of Brothers Used and a cheap-o used game and the guy at the counter immediately started 'the speech'. I cut him off with "Nah thats ok." This triggered a stream of concerned looks towards my bag of goods and comments about how a few more purchases like THIS and it'll PAY FOR ITSELF. Two more times I cut him off and shut him down.

So then he tries to fucking be my buddy and level with me by telling this big lie:

"Oh thanks man for stopping me before I got into it. My voice gets so tired from selling 170 of these cards a week."

Like that's going to make me fold? Like im gonna go OMG GEE 170 a week I MUST BE DUMB AND MISSING OUT ON YOUR SCAM.

I just said "Yeah no problem" and he handed me my bag with this frozen hate-filled pursed-lip smile. I wanted to smack his fat bald head off.

Sometimes I just want to tell those distinguished mentally-challenged fellows to shut the fuck up and TAKE MY MONEY. There's nothing worse than trying to buy something and having some dumbass college student try to talk you out of it.

"Oh, you know this isn't as good as their first album which was Grammy nominated..."
"Interesting"
"Yeah and this one is, what, $5 more than the other album. I would probably get the other one *giggle*"
"..."

:lol

I'm too nice of a person. I do the wide eyes O_O look with the hint of a forced smile. Let them finish their spiel and say "No thanks".

I just don't respond to them if they get annoying.

Oo, that's good!  Nothing says hate like an aptly delivered cold shoulder.

was this at GameStop?

I went into the hated GameStop across the street from my apartment last week looking for Wii component cables, and I was like "Do you have any Wii component cables?" And the guy was like "Nope. Nope. Nope."

I was like "Thanks." and he was like "Toys n Joys!!!!" and I was like "...what?" and he was like "Toys n Joys has em!" and I was like "...what?" And he was like "Toys n Joys, over on Jeffrey, they have 'em, they're Japanese but they work just fine, go there and you can get 'em."

I think he was autistic.

TOYS N JOYS.

I think I had more trouble handling their shit today cause I just spent 20 minutes listening to them talk to some Sony Rep that didnt know what IGN's PSP game of the year was, and felt compelled to ask the game dudes what it was cause her 'internet wasnt working. Then it was the clerks turn to WOW me with their self proclaimed greatness and how they keep the store awesome and she agreed with them and the complained about her husband or something.

Then she made some comment about asians and wobbled out of the store.

Toys and Joys is like a totally typical name for an import game store.  I could probably draw the employees accurately without having ever seen them.

If I made an import gamestore it would be called "Lets Run a Game Store!"

How about Let's Make an Independent Retail Storefront!!

In college my friends and I imagined the ideal sketchy game store name would be "Fisherman Bob's Discount Bait 'n' Games"

One of my favorites was always JAPAN VIDEO GAMES in the back of every gamefan.

When you called the number, you were invariably greeted by a very asian guy saying JAPAN VIDEO GAMES really fast.  Sometimes, my coworkers and I would call while working on shift at EB, and sometimes, if he said it in a decidedly spirited enough tone, we'd bust up laughing and have to hang up.

In the small town where I attended school, we had "Raystown Music and AQUARIUM", a store for guitars, sheet music and tropical fish. Oddly, it had a competitor in "Dave's Music and Fish", which was the same place, just down the street.
