Will rewatch everything up till the black goo arrived, shit went downhill fast
Any series they do now is going to have to completely handwave the end of the previous series. Not a great place to start.
The series ended on confirming absolutely that the alien invasion / conquering of Earth was going to happen at the end of the Mayan Calendar. Maybe he hoped to do a big budget alien invasion movie but that never happened.
I mean, I guess they could go with, "Oh that? Yeah, Mulder and Scully totally stopped that, it was epic, you should have been there. Now let's go investigate a werewolf in Milwaukee."
But that's like, kind of frustrating.
I think it's season 5 when it just got stupid. Right around the time they moved from Vancouver to LA I think?
Who cares about the big story though dubya, people just want 6 episodes of mulder and scully looking for mermaids and carnival freaks :)
People aren't that into monster of the week shows much anymore tbh

Supernatural is pretty damn popular and it uses the same formula.
Hope it's cornball as heck still.
Mulder's comp password: trustno1. :lol

People whine about the monster of the week episodes but they really erode your suspension of disbelief for the money shot episodes.
They demonstrate (albeit without subtlety) how desperate the Syndicate is to stop the inevitable too.
no thread for this yet?The X-Files' lineage is pretty strongly tied to Twin Peaks. There would not have been the former without the latter.
Time to rewatch the second best tv series ever, fuck the twin peaks comeback. This is the real deal.
Yes, the last two seasons were essentially all major story arc focused, but season 1 was almost directly an X-Files show.Who cares about the big story though dubya, people just want 6 episodes of mulder and scully looking for mermaids and carnival freaks :)

And Fringe, although it had plenty of "big story" stuff, too.
I never finished the series, but wasn't it more or less given that Mulder was untouchable for some reason?People whine about the monster of the week episodes but they really erode your suspension of disbelief for the money shot episodes.

Hardest thing to buy in this day and age is how Mulder at least didn't just die and get buried under a parking lot. In the era of things like bullshit detainment for decades, fugitive hackers etc I don't know why the syndicate didn't just say fuck it and bury everyone involved at the FBI.
Person of Interest :yeshrug
keep waiting for this to show up on netflix :fbm
Danke.
Danke.
It's also alluded to that killing him will make him a martyr and that eroding his credibility is a much more effective way of handling him.
When shit goes bad for the Syndicate in "Anasazi" there's no qualms about trying to kill Scully and Mulder though. ???
Mulder "dies" and rises from the dead after 3 days. :rofl
It's the season 3 premiere too. :rofl
They should bring back The Lone Gunmen, that was a better show than X-Files
Holy shit the episode after that one. :rofl
Rye Rye Reynolds is in it too. :dead
FUCK YES!
Morgan and Wong are coming back to write/direct/produce (along with Carter, but still). Things are looking up.

So has anyone been re-watching the old series? How does it hold up?

I have. I was posting my impressions in the last X-Files thread.

Scully's sister in a black choker will never age

No wonder I couldn't find that thread, Lager forgot the hyphen in "X-Files." :beli
Still would.
:rofl oh my GOD the roach episode in season 3 :rofl
Started watching this again.
What is it with 90's media and distinguished mentally-challenged children being national security risks?
I've decided to attempt watching through this entire series. I watched it from time to time as a kid but that's extent of my exp with it. The first few eps were pretty good. I have a feeling the monster of the week stuff might start to get 2silly4me but the Scully x Mulder sexual tension should be enough to keep me interested. :)
