I torrented it and if you get the updated launcher, yeah it'll boot. It isn't "online" multiplayer-playable yet. But you can load maps (Turf :rejoice "Avalanche"/Valhalla :rejoice ) and dick around in it by yourself currently. It's going to be really curious how the leakers/hackers/modders (whatever you want to call the current people messing with it) do in regards to "fixing" this early Alpha leak that was for testing in Russia.

Also, I'll add that it seems pretty optimized and the keyboard and mouse controls are pretty good (IMO) for something that is normally a console-primary series. Hopefully 343 brings the official version over from Russia to the US/other regions soon as it's ready. The only thing I've got a gripe with is that sprint kinda makes jumps WAYYYYYYY longer than they should be (you can cross the gap of Turf's roofs pretty easily with a sprint of 2ms and then jump while holding shift/sprint, couldn't do that on Halo 2).

If they tweak that (or give the option to remove Sprint in custom matches) and the ability to remove the F2P "Pay 2 Win" bullshit aura guns, this could be a good peace offering for people that want Halo 3 (and Reach? It's got bloom with 4's animation/graphics?) multiplayer on PC.

Not as far as I'm aware. But that's mostly due to a lot of the PC fanbase for CoD dying out after Modern Warfare 2 which killed a lot of goodwill the series had.

I know. :fbm

Maybe this alpha leak private server business will fix that. If they did a one-time-charge of $20 or so and getting the ability to host your own servers like PC titles of old? I'd be totally in there no questions asked. As it is, the F2P weapon aura bullshit makes me leery despite the PC engine for this being pretty good for early Alpha.

PC fanbase for CoD: MW3 and Blops 2 was actually pretty decent based on steam stats/player counts until AW came out and finally broke things three ways. MW3 has surprisingly had real staying power. Even MW2 outlasted Blops. World at War has a decent user base which is weird. Over the last thirty days AW+Blops2+MW3+MW2 = 12,000 players + Waw + Blops + Ghosts = 15,000. Which if it was one game would put it up in the top twenty I think. It has definitely collapsed though since it used to be like 30,000 for newest and 20,000 for last game, so has CS and CS:S and TF2. I remember when the top ten on Steam was like TF2, CS:S, CS, Garry's Mod, L4D, the latest two Call of Dutys and newest single player games. Now it's Dota 2, CS:GO, TF2, Civ V, Warframe, Skyrim, Garry's Mod, Pillars of Eternity, newest Football Manager and Arma 3. And only like two of the spots ever change.

Ghosts hilariously cratered almost instantly, which is why I think Activision ran like three free weekends.

Though a lot of the modes are dead except for like an hour each day.

benji, nobody got time for that series talk here. :stahp This is about Hola and Hola's possible private server ability on PC. :rejoice

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I know what you're talking about. But it seems like a lot of the backlash started with Modern Warfare 2 not having private servers/hosting ability. People still played it. But it seems like the series has been on a downward trend on PC due to that which sped up hugely given Ghosts.

AW gets decent numbers at peak hours.

Actually looking at that Steam stuff was making me realize just how huge the PC market has become just with Steam. I remember when NBA 2K9 was in the top 30 games because it had 275 players in the prior 24 hours. There's at least 40 games or more hitting 10,000+ per 24 hours now.

For comparison NBA 2K15's peak in the last 24 hours was 5811 players.

Gotta make sure MS doesn't drop a nuke on us.  ;)

Does it? I thought the numbers went down, not as fast as Ghost's but similar to Halo 4's trajectory slope.

Yeah, it's funny how a few years since the PS360 dragged that PC gaming has exploded and the next-gen systems haven't given a reason to return from it.

Online has been added. :rejoice But only as a LAN tunneling option.  :-\ :larry

Still, two steps forward for Microsoft's gigantic step backward. :lol :lol :lol

Actual menus are from Halo 3, even Forge Mode's defaults (A/B are NEEDED to be used to confirm/back on the PC keyboard dunno if you can rebind those) are controller-enabled.  :lol
