"You need to clean up your PR person. Put some bleach on your distasteful marketing ideas," tweeted @DriNicole. "Black emojis were added today. Saying this implies you'd rather the emojis be only white, by adding bleach."

This is how we live now.

Please do not mock outrage mock outrage mock outrage mock outrage mock outrage outrage.

I'm just waiting for a corporation with balls to someday reply to the Twitter folk." Are you fucking kidding me?!"
-
If you give a fuck about this, try drinking the bleach.

Ethnic cleansing, fabric cleansing, tomato, tomatoe.

maybe companies will finally realize that they all don't need a social media presence.

Yeah, who the heck follows CLOROX BLEACH on Twitter, anyway? :mindblown
-
Just where the hell do you get your breaking Clorox brand products news from dog?!?
-
I don't use Clorox, I use Top Job. :win
-
Imagine if you decided that the bleach company you work for somehow needed a social presence so you paid someone to do that and the result was this.
-
My official black person response: who gives a fuck.
-
$1 store bleach
i don't even know what the fuck it's called
i think it just has the word bleach on it

If it's good enough for Beyonce, it's good enough for me.
-
This seems like some misdirected social justice anger that was hand made for GAF. They should be balls deep with outrage if they're not already.
:drudge :drudge
Sound the alarms. This looks like a 5 cry hanky alert.
-
Also why would any public figure or company want to be on Twitter? Is there any benefit?
-
If it's good enough for Beyonce, it's good enough for me.
But which brand?
Also why would any public figure or company want to be on Twitter? Is there any benefit?
Uh, what do you do when customers want to follow you and you aren't there to follow? Set their house on fire? Murder their families? Because that's almost literally what it's practically like basically.

Taco Bell's twitter has deepened my appreciation for the quesarito.

http://money.cnn.com/2015/01/29/technology/social/taco-bell-emoji/
"Why do pizza and hamburger lovers get an emoji but taco lovers don't?" Taco Bell asks.
With a Change.org petition combined with a furious social media campaign, Taco Bell is trying to make taco emojis a reality.
Nearly 27,000 people have signed Taco Bell's online petition, and the fast food chain unveiled "Taco Emoji" t-shirts on Thursday.
The taco emoji campaign might seem random, but it's actually based on a looming update to the emoji system. Unicode Consortium, a non-profit organization that regulates emojis among other computer text, announced in November that 37 candidates for new emoticons could be added as part of a code update scheduled for June.
The finalists include racially diverse emoji faces, a zipper-mouth face, prayer beads, a cricket bat and a taco.
Taco Bell's campaign began in November, but the company says it won't declare victory until the Unicode Consortium creates a taco emoji for the masses.

Real talk, I don't remember the last time I've been this disappointed with white men as a race. At what point are you going to just put your foot down and kill this faux outrage shit. You have killed billions of brown people, enslaved continents, created Taco Bell...yet you can't stand firm against tumblr? This aggression shouldn't stand, white man. Come the fuck on.

I hope they don't. The world would be deprived of perhaps the greatest window into lifeless existence.

Actually, if you'll read the tweets and all of twitter in general you'll see there was no actual out of order outrage, that people are not sitting at home screaming and crying about this and that the real victims are the people who are being accused of something they didn't do, which is get upset about a tweet by a bleach company.
Pretending outrage culture exists is like raping cows through cultural imperialism.
-
They had to know what they were doing. It's just controversial enough to upset people and get retweeted like crazy while still allowing them the "oops, misunderstanding!" out.
-
Taco Bell's Twitter is good people.
So is Lufthansa for entertaining my Interflug jokes.
-
so if we got multicultural emojis now does that all the old ones were all asian?

When you say 'they', do you mean the 20 year old interns that have to do it in-between delivering mail and coffee to cubicles?
-
Maybe, maybe not. All I know is being cynical about marketing and advertising is fun.

I remember five years ago people couldn't stop jerking themselves off about how connected we all are now thanks to social media. Now in 2015 we decide to let the internet equivalent of crazy cat ladies and hectoring schoolmarms run the show.
-
This is peak internet.
-
The real internet starts here.
-
maybe companies will finally realize that they all don't need a social media presence.
That's what I keep telling them! 90% of the companies out there don't need it.
I remember one company employed 3 full time people plus a boss to maintain their twitter account and when I asked how much they had returned on their investment in twitter presence they said, "I don't know, but I'm sure it's a lot"
:comeon

Twitter hasn't made money off its own presence has it?

Nah, they're making pretty good money.

Twitter's net income in 2014 was -$577.82 million. They're not making good money at all.
-
faux outrage is just like gay subtext; a way of playing with eachother over the internet.

In most cases that would be really bad, but Twitter likes to hand out lots of stock to its employees [about $650 million worth in 2014], which gets counted towards the GAAP net income line item even though that kind of transaction has nothing to do with the inflow/outflow of actual money.

So many accountants on this forum. :lol

I used to love twitter back in the day, meaning last week, but having been really busy I somehow went a week without reading twitter and I already don't understand anything anymore?????????
