Same kind of thing happened with Ice Cube, he went from gangsta rap posing with AK-47s to being the lead man in like Disney movies or whatever. You can't explain that.

I'll give Cube a pass for making kids movies for his kids. Nothing hypocritical about that, and a sign of him being a different (ie grown) man. But turning his tough guy image into a comedic gimmick and being typecast as the angry guy who's actually not threatening at all and is kinda funny har har har :goty2

Snoop is just a cool dude. I don't think I've ever seen Snoop do some shit and thought it was corny.

shit he could probably make family movies work way better than Ice Cube ever could.

I commend Snoop. Even at the height of the east coast/west coast shit he was smart enough to realize he wasn't a gangster anymore, and stayed out of the fuckery. He's alive, has a family, is making money and seems happy. Whereas Pac, Biggie, etc are dead. That's a win.

Nah, Snoop has done tons of cornball shit, but he manages to get away with it because he never tries to sell the corny shit earnestly. I think being self aware goes a long way. It also doesn't hurt that he used to be very, very good at rapping:

Snoop has always seemed cool and never seemed like he took himself too seriously and had a sense of humour about himself. That goes a long way. Especially in a genre where the majority of the other people are trying to be constantly as hard as possible.

The other thing that works for Snoop is that he looks about the same. Whenever you see someone show drastic signs of aging it makes you feel old. So, with snoop you get the nostalgia without the bittersweet sorrow. (Like seeing grandpa Harrison Ford in that trailer)
