:what

You're a grown man. Buy a suit and tie. Go to the mall and hit up JC Penny's, it's not like you're going to the Met Gala. Try a suit on - don't buy anything until you try it on. Afterwards take it to a tailor.

I dont think a suit is necessary. Just dress up nice, don't overdo it.

Yeah, I'm not saying that it would be a bad move, but I don't necessarily think a suit is a requirement here. But ask your girlfriend. How dressed up is she going to be? That's a far more important barometer of how you should be dressed than asking people on the internet what the etiquette is for attire given no further context than "it's a wedding."

Steve is right though, the last weddings I have been to the people in actual suits were in the minority; today a bunch of people just wear good looking casual wear, and that's fine. Check how strict the family is with that stuff and if they are relaxed about that shit, then wear good pants, a good shirt and good shoes.

yeah unless her friends are real formal (or you know the wedding is gonna be) you can pick up some nice leather shoes, some dress pants, and a button up, all from the mall.

ofc if you have the money then getting a suit isn't a bad idea

Don't buy online until you know your size. Better off going to a store and trying stuff on than buying the wrong suit

Studio suits is an exception mein breh, they give you detailed instructions on how to take extensive measurements and then they custom make it. Have your gf come over with a measuring ribbon

You don't need a suit. Get a nice, solid color shirt, a tie and an expensive pair of dress slacks.

Go to Macy's. They regularly have sales on nice affordable suits. Plus they offer tailoring services if you need something adjusted.

Not at all, just buy a cheap suit.
Have a tailor make adjustments. The only things you really need to make sure is that it's the right length and that the shoulders fit.
Altering length or shoulders would prob cost more than the suit. All you really should need to adjust is the waist and the cuffs tbh.

You need a suit since at worst, you'll look better than anyone that doesn't have one. I mean it's a wedding, it's about as formal of an event that anyone can go to.

And honestly, you can find decent used suits on Craigslist. I had one suit that was like $200 from JC Penny that i of course bought new. Then 6 months later I got two more on Craigslist for $60 bucks (Hugo Boss Black and some sort if Zegna suit). I'm no nudemacuser so I had to look them up but they seem like actually very decent brands and I got the suit for less than a quarter of its original value if I remember correctly.

Get a suit. Take it to a tailor if it doesn't seem to fit right.

Yes fitting a suit is totally worth it. Just make sure the shoulders fit fine as adjusting the shoulders would roughly double the cost of the fitting.

It is expensive, that's why it's bad advice.

At your age, you will use a suit so infrequently that you will never really get the value out of that suit. Wait until you're a little older and better off, then buy a nice suit that will last you a decade (or more)

For the price of a cheap suit (at your current income level), you can get really nice dress clothes instead. Dress clothes that will last you  a decade and will get way more use as you can mix and match it with other clothing.

It doesn't have to be super-expensive and there's shops that will tailor it for you when you buy it.  I can't imagine not owning at least one suit.

Nah. Go to a Uniqlo or H&M if you want an okay cheap suit. Or Macy's like Gundam said.

get blue

you can formalize it with blvck shooez and a white shirt and black tie, humanize it with whiskey shooez and gingam shirts etc. the most flexible of suit colors.
