Title: The Bard's Tale IV [Kickstarter]
Post by: Great Rumbler on June 04, 2015, 01:30:43 PM
inXile [Wasteland 2, Torment: Tides of Numera] just launched a Kickstarter for Bard's Tale IV, a true sequel to the old Bard's Tale games. Meaning that it won't be a 3D action-RPG like that one from a decade ago, but a party-based dungeon crawler like what people used to make back in the late-80's.

I'm not a fan of the original trilogy, but I'm always up for more dungeon crawling.

Yea, TBT never clicked with me either (I played then all). I much prefered the SSI gold box games and Might and Magic instead.

so I guess inXile is just gonna be a kickstarter only company, okay.

good or bad, I dunno, but its awfully nice to see PC gaming get some muscle behind it, even if it comes from (check tally) 22K ought people.

I only ever played The Bard's Tale Construction Set, and it was so far above my head at the time that I never did more than tinker with it a bit. But Wizardry 7 is one of my favorite games of all time and I've really been loving the new wave of first-person dungeon crawlers [Etrian Odyssey, Might & Magic X, Legend of Grimrock], so I definitely am open to more along those lines.

I actually beat that game. :lol

The 2004 spinoff was. This is what the original games looked like:
