"Deep dish pizza isn't real pizza!"
:bolo
Shut the fuck up. Pizza in the US is its own beast, its own culture. Real pizza was born and will die in Italy, every other pizza is a beautiful rendition that earns love and respect.
You know what deep dish pizza's aren't lacking? Sauce. Tons of pizza places, good and bad, skimp on sauce, leaving you with a dry experience. Sauce is used to bind shit together and nothing more in most cases. Deep Dish pizzas aren't lacking in the sauce department. Feels like you're eating tomatoes instead of tomato paste from a can.
Another thing that makes deep dish pizza unique, ingredients inside of a deep dish are easier to eat. It never feels like you have to give oral to deep dish pizzas, whereas some places stack and place ingredients in a haphazard way on "normal" pizza. Causing you to strategically eat so you don't get meat grease and veggies spilled down your shirt.
Pizza bigotry is special fellow behavior. Pizza is pizza.
-
I prefer thin crust because you get a higher topping-to-bread ratio, but deep dish is okay too sometimes.
-
Thin crust is also harder to fuck up taste wise versus pan crust or medium crust thickness.
-
Never had it. Wanna try it.
-
At Lil C'zzz I only get the deep dish.
-
Sometimes I wanna eat SO MANY CARBZ, and I get a deep dish pizza. I like to think all of the paleo adherents I know die a little bit when I eat a slice.
-
there's this place in the mall that has always made the best pizza i've ever had. slices so big you have to eat them with a fork, it's literally a slice of pie, and you get full off of one slice.
my preference tends to be thin crust because I love the crunchiness combined with the nice balance of grease, thin crust, crunch, and toppings that thicker pizzas usually don't offer, but that pizza is something else.

Marinara dipping sauce with any pizza
:phil
Marinara with almost anything
:phil

I always feel special when I'm eating a deep dish while thin crust is just because that's what the chains mostly sell. They both basically taste the same but deep dish gives you that almost-taboo-but-still-can-show-your-parents rush.
-
I've never had a genuine deep dish pizza :goty2
-
My favorite American pizza is apizza aka New Haven-style pizza (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Haven-style_pizza).

Giant, plenty of sauce, thin and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside crust—it's amazing. The best part is that it's popping up in more and more places these days. You don't have to go to Connecticut to get it anymore. I've eaten great apizza in D.C. (and Northern Virginia) and Chicago now. I eagerly anticipate it getting even more popular and available across the country. If you live in a city where this is available and haven't tried it yet, definitely give it a shot.

deep dish is fucking garbage.
:sheik
-
deep dish haters can die slow. how can you be mad at all that deliciousness? fuck this thread is making me so hungry
-
Pro tip: Little Caesars sells a five dollar hot n' ready deep dish pizza, just gotta ask the wage slave at the counter for one :obama
-
You get a drink with them too. :aah
-
Grab some crazy bread while ur there 2 :noah
-
little Caesars is deep dish now? that's like saying anything thicker than New York style is deep dish. I thought we were specifically talking about Chicago style
-
I'll take all the pizzas please
-
Both are great but honestly...Chicago pizza>NY pizza. Everything about it is perfect to me. The crust tends to be better, I love the layers of sauce/cheese/etc...it's just dope.
Not hating on NY, in most cases I'll order that type since it's more prevalent. But when I can find a place that has legit Chicago style pizza
:lawd

holy shit I can get that for five bucks
-
Hey now...
My general view is that it's very hard to fuck up pizza. If it's cheap and decent I'll eat it. Little Caeser's is a master of cheap pizza that isn't bad IMO. And yea I did like the bacon crush "deep dish" pizza, although I'll probably never try it again.
$5 hot-n-ready pizza for when you're too lazy to cook, and too under-dressed to go to Taco Bell :lawd

Some fresh herbs just chillin in the bg :whoo

The $8 deep dish is 2 of the lunch combos (without drinks), I'm on the fence as to whether or not it's the better deal than the lunch meal. It doesn't travel well since it's two pizzas slanging around in the box and holy hell it's hard to eat one in a sitting because of all those carbs, but it's doubling the pizza from the lunch combo at 2/3 the cost.
-
I haven't had Pizza Hut in awhile. I remember always liking their crust, but that's about it. They re-branded last year iirc and now have prices similar to Dominos...but I haven't given them a try.
-
My general rule of thumb: good food tastes good
Deep dish tastes good, so it's good food. New York style tastes good, thus it's good food
-
None of you will probably remember this, but pizza hut had a "Chicago style" deep dish pizza for a while. Normally pizza hut is low tier for the money, but that pizza was on time. Don't know how authentic it was, but all the toppings and cheeses were baked without sauce in this thick, high-walled crust, and they brought this warm chunky marina sauce to the table for you to pour over it. I loved it, so of course they stopped making it. I think I've eaten at pizza hut maybe half a dozen times since then.
-
Little Caesar's tastes better the second day after you throw it in the oven for a few minutes and let it get crispy around the edges
-
deep dish is fucking garbage.
:sheik
mm hmm. whole lotta tryhards in this thread
-
I like NY style better being from NY (upstate :shh) but deep dish is good too.
Can't deny that shitty pizza exist, but as a testament to the sanctity of pizza, I'm gonna eat it regardless.
It's just one of those foods.
-
Pizza in general, no matter if deep dish or not, is a very overrated foodage.

I accept your opinions.
A shitty burger > A good pizza.
-
You haven't eaten shitty enough burgers, calc.
-
I mean what's the bottom line for shitty burgers?
I would prob take Little Caesar's over McDonalds most any day.

Deep dish tastes pretty fucking good if you can keep this shit from burning the fuck out of you. The last 2 times I ate it my mouth was blistered from all the hot goop.

I don't eat pizza but I do like this Deep Dish:

Before they split up and Dubfire started playing all this awful minimal techno.

-
First Taco Bell, now Littler Shitters? :oreilly
-
I also eat kobe beef filled ravioli and Soylent Mk 1.4. :smug
-
I haven't had good pizza since moving to Toronto. Shit sucks out here.
-
The deepdish pizzas in Italy were incredible, but elsewhere i'm all about the thin crust.
As for the band? (Tiesto) - i never really used to like them that much then i went to see them touring here with the "George is on" album and they played a set at Ageha that basically started at midnight and was still going when we left around 8am. It was incredible.
-
I accept your opinions.
A shitty burger > A good pizza.
Nope. Try and eat a cold burger.
It's disgusting. Cold pizza is sometimes better than when served hot, but cold burgers will never taste good.
That's a rare quality in a food that it taste good hot or cold.
