Title: What controller do you use for the PC?
Post by: Huff on June 25, 2015, 03:42:04 PM
Forgot my wireless dongle and 360 controller while moving.

Before I order a new set, is there something better I should look into. Trying hooking up a PS4 controller through Bluetooth, but could never get it to really work.

Dualshock 3. It sucks ass because it's fucking wired and enabling blue tooth for the thing is fucking impossible. I wish someone could give me a cheap 360 controller.

I'm happy with my wireless 360 controller. Fewer driver issues and now I have the correct icons for button prompts.

Wired 360 controller. Probably still the best bang for the buck unless you need a good dpad, get an xbone controller in that case.

If anyone's interested, I did this mod on my 360 controller ages ago and it still holds up. My dpad has been perfect for years.

wireless 360 controller, the kind from ~5 years ago with a twisting d-pad and better analog sticks.  when I upgrade to windows 10 I'll get the xbox one controller.  playing batman now, the sticks are so worn the map screen moves itself if I lift off.

I always use a wireless 360 controller on the PC in our bedroom and switch between a wired DS4 and a wireless 360 for the living room PC depending on whether or not I want to run a long cord across the living room. Been thinking about an Xbone controller. Is there a wireless dongle for that, or does it strictly work wired on PC?

it's coming around windows 10's launch for $25 or $80 with a controller.  wired works same as 360.  the wireless dongle is windows 10 only.

Any issues using the wired DS4? might do that for the time being since I just to get a cord

No. Well, I mean, I have to run an app (I forget what it's called) that puts it into Xinput mode. But aside from that it works great.

Wired Xbone.

Other than the right shoulder button being a bit messed up, it works great.

How long is the wired xbox controller wire?

I think it's 6 feet.

Wired 360 because it's easy. I'd like to use Pii U Pro controller but don't care enough to actually set it up.

I still have my 360 wireless signal adapter. Can I use that in place of bluetooth dongle?

Yeah, the cord just plugs into the top of the controller.

Get the Steam controller

 :neogaf

I am. :yeshrug I'm not a believer in it, but shit paying $50 in addition to the Steam Link for a total of $100 wasn't a bad preposition. I mean, I'd be paying that much for a 360/1 or PS3/4 controller anyway. :yeshrug Might as well try it for myself and see if it's all that and a bag of potato chips Valve says it is. :yeshrug

I actually did buy this version because it was ten bucks cheaper than the console versions package. :lol

Will probably pick up a Xbone one during my next upgrade wave, been noticing the dots have rubbed off the left analog completely and it's getting increasingly slippery.

Was gonna like every wired 360 post, but there's way too many.

Wired 360: cheaper base price, plus you don't need that $20 receiver.

Also some games don't support the PlayStation controller icons, whereas they'll usually always have the corresponding letters/colors for Xbox (Mount Your Friends is one game where it matters).

Is the Xbone controller really worse? How do you fuck up something already so :lawd? MS thinking it needed a face lift with its questionable plastic surgery.

No, xbone controller is better. Why do you not need the 20 dollar receiver? Is the wired controller wire really that long?

Yeah, 9 ft long. The main complaints I read for the xbone were the bumpers, but then again they just adjusted those on the updated controller.

3rd party wired 360 pad with a nice d-pad and light up buttons (http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/accessories/xbox-360-mini-pro-ex-controller/99934). Me likes it.

Are there any wired 360 pads with that new d-pad version of the 360 pad that came out around 2011?

Nah :( Seems those new dpads are only in the wireless controllers (like Chrome series and other special editions).

I was surprised with the cord length when I first got the wired 360 pad, I think I wrapped the cord all the way around my case once so it'd stop getting tangled in everything in sight.

Should do that again since untangling it from my headphones is like a twice weekly chore.

Wired X360 Controller for Windows, Monster Hunter Edition

I went on Amazon.co.jp, and the MH Edition is the cheapest. It has NO markings or branding, it's just so the utterly housebound nerbos who play MH on PC will be able to find it more easily.

Used to use a 360 controller with the wireless dongle for the longest time but the controller is starting to crap out on me. I mean I've been using it for close to a decade so I'm not really mad about it.

So I switched to the DS4. Works perfectly and I actually prefer it at this point.

As a followup to the last post, the app I use is InputMapper for the DS4 on PC. Don't know if it's the best, but it gets the job done.

Is the Bone controller considered that much of a worthwhile upgrade? Wireless 360 works just fine, but thinking about buying this for the living room PC so that I have wireless controllers in each room (i.e. leave 360 controller and receiver in bedroom).

I think the xbox one controller is better but its not so insanely better that I would upgrade working 360 controllers for it. Just wait until they die.
