Good?

Interested. But the covers on amazon look like shit.
I saw these and want these covers.

Aside from Gene Wolfe (and even then I'm being generous...) I'm at a loss of fantasy novels with covers I wouldn't be embarrassed to be seen with in public. Read what you want! Just don't try and say it's art. :comeon

I dunno, i just like the style more. I hate it when when a movie or whatever comes out, and now the book cover looks like dog shit, and it has the movie poster on it now. Ugh.
-
I mean I can understand not wanting to be a billboard for The Witcher video games but would you have even heard of these books if those games had never been made? Like this No Fear shirt I saw when I was a kid said, drive it like you stole it.
*puts feet up on desk and opens up a Jerzy Pilch book content in the knowledge that I'll never look anything but embarrassing*

Fine.
I just don't like tacky book covers. :maf
-
Aren't those, like, the most generic template for fantasy (/horror) novels ?

My stomach for national heritage isn't strong enough to dip below Henryk Sienkiewicz tier. :expert

I've read the first three. Enjoyed them a bunch. The one that's a collection of short stories is my favorite.
-
Read the short story collection(s) first, then decide if you want to read the five (?) part saga after that. I only read the first book of that.
-
They're alright. Geralt is the Maryiest of Sues that ever lived, even more so in the books than in the games. If you can deal with that, the books do a pretty decent job of setting up situations where nobody is a knight in shining armor. Except one guy.

Gene Wolfe
:preach

They're pulpy low fantasy books.
Not the best, not the worst stuff I've ever read.
I've read the poorly translated collection and the official releases.
It's alright. The Last Wish (the first book) is objectively the best imo, small novella style stories about his adventures.
Geralt really isn't the main character of the novels after a while tho, everything eventually relates to Ciri and how things spin out in relation to her.
