I actually learned to swim in a huge irrigation run off ditch when I was a kid swimming with my cousins at a ranch my grandparents worked.
It was only later down the road that I realized we swam in nothing but pesticides.

I can swim.

Of the approximately 750 children who will drown next year, about 375 of them will do so within 25 yards of a parent or other adult. According to the CDC, in 10 percent of those drownings, the adult will actually watch the child do it, having no idea it is happening.
YES. It was my favorite thing as a kid!I can swim and was on a swim team in middle school.

It's absolutely important to learn how to swim but it's also important to recognize when someone is drowning (http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/family/2013/06/rescuing_drowning_children_how_to_know_when_someone_is_in_trouble_in_the.html?wpsrc=sh_all_dt_fb_top).I learned about that slow weird flapping motion people do when they're drowning a long time ago. Not sure I could spot it in real life though.QuoteOf the approximately 750 children who will drown next year, about 375 of them will do so within 25 yards of a parent or other adult. The article is child-focused but this applies to adults as well. Drowning doesn't look like it does in TV shows and movies.
Try to find the person in these videos drowning before the lifeguard blows their whistle:

The commune has a pool. Doing laps in it is one of the place's few redeeming qualities.spoiler (click to show/hide)When you get out you have to avoid stepping on menthol cigarette butts. :goty[close]
Yeah, I love swimming. Too bad I'm fat and have body image issues. :-\

The best stroke. (After a 4 stroke, no Drinky Crow.)
I mean, I can tread water and do a pathetic crawl stroke, but that's about it. Can't float without moving my limbs around

Andrex is actually inspiring me to get into swimming laps if I can find a place close enough to where I'm gonna move

Absolutely love swimming and especially waterparks.

What happened? Someone die? >:(
The park's popularity went hand-in-hand with a reputation for poorly designed, unsafe rides; under-aged, undertrained, and often under-the-influence staff;[4] intoxicated, unprepared visitors; and a consequently poor safety record. At least six people are known to have died as a result of mishaps on rides at the original park. It was given nicknames such as "Traction Park",[4] "Accident Park", and "Class Action Park"[5] by doctors at nearby hospitals due to the number of severely injured park-goers they treated. Little action was taken by state regulators despite a history of repeat violations. In its later years, personal-injury lawsuits led to the closure of more and more rides and eventually the entire park.
Are there any swimming classes for adults who already know how to swim? I'd like to improve some time and it seems like a good idea to improve beyond doing the stuff I learned as a kid. Problem is that I worry most adult lessons will be for people who don't know, and it would be rude to join up in a class like that already knowing how to do it.
Sure, but I hate getting in water (besides taking a shower)
Not swim well, but I can avoid drowning.
