The number of times as a young'n that I was angry at nearby crying children is staggering, but after having a kid and having to take turns taking her outside when she cried and ending up eating a cold entree alone while she was "on duty," my empathy for the situation increased dramatically.
Even so, there are definitely parents who free-range their kids too liberally for my tastes.
