All I know is it's going to be some kind of surprise despite the writing on the wall like

a) them talking about doing it decades ago
b) being immensely popular in an industry/entertainment field/whatever the fuck not well known for its progressive politics (see: life)

Circa 2001 or so Mamie Van Doren's official site had a bunch of old stories about Hollywood, hooking up with celebrities, etc.  One of the entries was her going on a date with Jack Webb (the Dragnet guy), which ended with her getting roofied, then waking up tied to a bed and being raped.

That particular story got taken down within a year or so IIRC.  Don't think it ever got any traction in the media or online.  Might be preserved on the Wayback Machine.
