We got the horror movie thread, so let's try a horror game thread too. I'm planning on playing through the Corpse Party series. The first two games are on the PSP/Vita for a Tenner each, and then the new one is coming out on the Vita only for $50(!) on the 13th. You guys can play whatever tho, and if there's enough interest in a specific game, we could coordinate playthroughs. If not, just post about what you're playing.

i still might try playing the siren remake this month tho.

Post by: mormapope on October 02, 2015, 05:56:52 PM: For some reason, the ending makes me really emotional and I can't explain why. Something about the last hour or two hours elevates the game from being a janky and quirky Twin Peaks clone, to being one of the best games last gen.

Definitely has a underrated soundtrack:

Post by: mormapope on October 02, 2015, 06:34:44 PM: Alien Isolation is surprisingly a very long game, I stopped at the ten hour mark. 12+ hours for a horror game is way too long, most people say they beat Isolation in 16-20 hours.

Post by: Rufus on October 03, 2015, 09:49:45 AM: The Wii version. Comes with all the extra content from the PS2 version. Many people think playing with the Wiimote is much easier, but you can always just use a GC or Classic controller.

Honestly forgot they existed...

they're fine as long as you know they're using the original textures. the recent steam rerelease is the only one with hd textures.

Until now there's been very, very few horror games that are actually scary or unsettling. The Pnumbra/Amensia guys, some Silent Hill, some Fatal Frame. But with VR even crappy closet jump horror games are freaky as fuck. Going to be a horror revolution and probably kill a few people with heart attacks.

Corpse Party generally does unsettling pretty well, I feel like. Really unnerving settings and scenarios that made me want to stop reading as I went on, plus excellent use of binaural audio (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binaural_recording) to further enhance that unsettling feeling. Playing those games with and without headphones are entirely different experiences.
