Post by: VomKriege on October 23, 2015, 05:25:24 PM: Always was a fan of Nicholson's joker, never understood what was the problem with it (probably because I didn't read a lot of Batman comics), same with Prince soundtrack, so take that with a ton of salt. The sequence at the museum with both the Joker and the music is :lawd . The film has a lot of weaknesses (Burton has rather bland directing when all is said) tho.

I've seen the future and it will be.

Bruce needs to antagonize The Joker so he'll shoot him and he can bail out all Batman style even though everyone is still in the room.

There really isn't anything wrong with it. Nicholson's Joker is just as dangerous or dark or what have you as Ledger's or the comics, except he's just having a fucking good time doing it all. The museum scene is a pretty great example of this. Ledger's stops to lecture about human nature constantly, Jack (can I call you Jack?) takes the time to come prepared with gags AND insult Batman while both getting beat up and being in the process of trying to murder the entire city, which in a lot of ways is more like the comic version:

He's generally more upset about the Batman screwing with his fun than anything. Just doesn't care if fifty people die for his fun. Same in the museum scene.

That's one reason I liked Arkham Origins so much. Is that The Joker was on a crazy murderous rampage constantly coming close to death but his entire demeanor is that it's more about having a great fucking time all throughout than any details of some big plan or meaning.

One thing I caught when I watched The Dark Knight again was when he's talking to Dent in the hospital with the gun to his head about not having a plan, blah blah blah, leave it up to chance, etc. which was always an obvious lie based on every event of the film, he's got his hand on the hammer of the gun the entire time and I was like you....you...it's probably accidental but I really liked that he was really such a fucking liar.
