Title: So it looks like Scott Weiland is dead.

Apparently he was found dead in his new band's tour bus.

Real shame. He was awesome in Stone Temple Pilots, and the one Velvet Revolver album was pretty fantastic. It seemed like he had it together for awhile, but for the last couple of years I've heard nothing but sad stories about how fucked up he was on the drugs and booze. I saw a few videos of more recent performances, and he could barely stand, let alone sing well. I was hoping he'd get clean permanently and have a decent life even if music wasn't in the cards anymore. Guess not.

Who could have predicted, etc.

Addiction sucks, and it's nigh impossible to beat even if you're in a field where people don't cater to you like you're a god or whatever. Poor guy, but not surprising.

STP was one of those bands it wasn't really cool to like compared to Nirvana and Pearl Jam. They were kind of like Creed before Creed. (But way better than that obviously)

Can't say I liked a lot of their songs but I did kind of like sex type thing.

Was STP really like Creed before Creed?  I was like 10 when they peaked so I honestly don't know.  I mean, STP was awesome.

I used to totally listen to Creed.  Outside of the lyrics "What if" is still a pretty boss rock song and My Own Prison is legitimately good song.  But that's it.  I'm out.

RIP but it's better this way.  Fuck heroin, it's a death sentence.  Maybe this will bring heroin addiction back into the spotlight...considering there's an epidemic going on in lots of parts of the country with super cheap heroin everywhere.

When they first came around, I had a really hard time distinguishing his voice and eddy vedder's voice.  Plush sounded like a Pearl Jam song with dumb lyrics to me, so I sort of wrote them off at first.  after hearing more of them, they were another pretty good grunge band with a hard hitting drummer, good riffs, good lyrics.  i like the second album better.

When they first came out people thought they were derivative and just trend-hopping. So they took some shit for it. But after their Mtv Unplugged, and their albums 'Purple' and 'Tiny Songs ...' they gained a lot more credibility and people came around on them as legit.


To me, Purple is a better album (from top to bottom) than any album that Nirvana or Pearl Jam made.
