Come on Boritos, tell me how much you love Just Cause 3. JC2 was probably my most played (and loved) game of last gen, JC3 was the definitive reason for me to get a new console (PS4). The game has some technical issues right now but I couldn't care less. Every time I'm not playing it I'm just thinking about getting home and booting it up and when I am playing it's that same feeling of it being SUPER HARD to stop yourself. It's just pushes all the right buttons for me sandbox-wise. Huge and beautiful world, so much granularity to the approach and how you can use the tether physics to create all kinds of crazy shit.
The aforementioned technical problems: mostly load times for me. If you're not familiar with the game, liberating towns and bases in the world unlocks various types of challenge missions where you get a score or time objective to receive a rank of 1 to 5 gears. These gears then unlock the "perks" for weapons, movement, vehicles and so forth. On the initial load of these challenges, loadtimes are fairly normal, but when you want to retry upon completion, things get a bit crazy and very inconsistent. I timed it for one of the destruction challenges, and I got load times of between 55 and 180+ seconds (I thought the game had crashed). I've also gotten two crashes to dashboard in one of the air race challenges.
Also there's fun stuff like this:

Eventually I will get around to it. The trailers make it look awesome. The review reception was kind of mixed but that's always been the case with this franchise.

Really want to play this, but I've got too many games I still need to play that I just can't justify getting it right now.

I wouldn't care about 30FPS r even some drops on PC because the game is fun as all hell but the stutter is fucking horrendous at the moment. Considering JC 2 was the high watermark for optimization on PC no wonder people are pissed.

Huh, weird. Haven't had that many bad framedrops on PS4 yet, maybe to or three really bad ones.

OK, talking to myself here but, this just gets better and better. It's incredible.
The Destruction Frenzy Challenges is like a game in its own right, within JC3. It's like an action movie sequel to Boom Blox for Wii! You get 90 seconds to wreck shit inside a base, but the timer doesn't start until you destroy the first object so you can spend infinite time rigging tethers and setting crazy chain reactions up to keep the multiplier going. Here's an example of one: the premise here is that you have no weapons or armed vehicles, only your grappling hook/tethers and four grenades. Tons of ammo boxes and regular cars around though, so you can rig a lot before starting the chain. I fucked up a couple of times here and dropped the multiplier a lot, so actually I wouldn't have made it to the 5 gear rank if I hadn't gotten that final radar at the end.

JC2 is the first sandbox game I've allowed my 10-year-old son to play. He's not so fond of the gunplay, but he likes blowing stuff up and zooming around in the grapple-parachute, or doing parachute exits from speeding cars. I don't let him play when I'm not there, because I want to be able to keep up with how he's engaging with this game's action.
At some point I'll get this on PS4 and he'll go to town on it.

yeah, of course there's a lot of shooting doods in the face and whatnot, but I could still play this game for hours and hours in a totally non-violent way, if not just to gawp at how crazy it looks most of the time. I mean, goddamn.

Great music, too! Surprising choice!

Yeah, it's got interactive music again, so it changes depending on combat engagement/heat status. Really frantic on heat level 5. But that's the normal chill music when you're just exploring and doing non-violent stuff.

fucking hell, worst challenge in the game so far. and I'm nearing the end. probably a lot less infuriating on the PC version where you can aim properly :doge
