Title: Steam was compromised for X-mas in case you have families and missed it
Post by: Bebpo on December 25, 2015, 03:49:31 PM
For the last half hour or so if you load up the steam client and click account details it would randomly take you to some other person's steam account details including their name, address, email, phone number, and last 4 digits of any saved credit cards, their amount in their steam wallet and purchase history.

Looks like maybe they've started fixing it now, but uh...this was pretty bad so watch out for stolen personal information for the next month I guess.  :\

*edit* yeah, Valve's completely shut down Steam at this point, so at least no further compromising hopefully.

This is nuts. I'm still logged into my own account on the client, nothing fishy going on there, but when I tried to grab my free cards I couldn't do it because I was always getting logged into someone else's account or having the site set to random languages.

Ok, people are posting verified examples of people buying games within other people's accounts and then gifting it to themselves.  Once this gets fixed check your purchase history in steam to make sure no one did that to you.

Yeah, probably best to not touch anything Steam right now. If you can block/unlink payment stuff outside of Steam, do that.

So far it doesn't look like anyone has bought anything on my account, then again I've been logged into it for the past 3 hours playing games.

Store's back up, login page is no longer showing other people's accounts. Still gonna wait and see before I do anything on Steam other than play some games, though.
