Mine?
FINAL FANTASY VII
I had so much fun playing through this for the first time. I was 12 years old. I cried when Aeris died.

FINAL FANTASY VII
:heart
Ugh...

Return to Castle Wolfenstein. It has Zombies, Nazis, and a main character who can kick people to death. I play through a couple of times a year. I'm still pissed MS hasn't added it to their BC list yet.

That sounds pretty sweet! I should check it out

It's dirt cheap now. The Xbox version is $5, and the PS2 version is $7. I would guess the PC version can be found around the same price range. There is no GC version.
-
Metroid Prime.
-
Star Control II.
Which you can play for free now in XP, so go download and play it:

I'm gonna have to say Secret of Evermore
-
Crystalis
Final Fantasy IV
Skies of Arcadia
-
Daytona USA. It was the first game I truly fell in love with. :badass
-
Oh god I have to pick just one?
Hmm I dunno, Chrono Trigger I guess... now watch me change my mind 8 times
I'm very indecisive :-\
-
Metroid Prime
-
Scenester, I thought you were a cool guy. But FFVII? That's like a anime fan(lol anime fans) calling DBZ the greatest anime. :-\
-
Deus Ex, by a very large margin.
-
Scenester, I understand your pick of FF7. Screw these haters.
I guess mine is Pool of Radiance, even though I haven't played it in 17 years.

Yeah I know its a predictable choice, but if I said any other game I would be lying. :-\
-
World of Warcraft. No surprise there.
-
i'm one of those crazy people who's of the belief that game quality is getting better as time goes on, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise that, if forced to whittle the list down at all, it'd come down to three from last-gen:
- resident evil 4
- metroid prime
- half-life 2
i really can't say enough about any one of these--i seem to switch between them as my all-time favorite on an almost minute-to-minute basis.
-
I really, really loved Planescape: Torment.
Final Fantasy VIII and Skies of Arcadia both dropped during a really sweet spot in my gaming life; I have very fond memories of both.
-
Awesome its beelzebozo! Welcome!
Good picks too, I was gonna make this like a top 5 thread or something, but a singular top game is more controversial. RE4 and Metroid Prime would be in my top 5.
FFVIII, FFIX, Skies of Arcadia, Castlevania: Sotn, Phoenix Wright, Rez and Doom would be a few more of my all time faves.
-
probably Earthbound although I love these as well: megaman X1-5, halo, half-life 1/2, chrono trigger/cross, ff, zelda series,etc..
-
Counter-strike. Made a lot of friends through that game. Put a couple thousand hours in :-\
-
lunar: the silver star story
lunar: eternal blue
super mario rpg
Kingdom Hearts I&II (yup cigarillo total confirmed, but the two games together are really a cool experience.)
I might add Castlevania 4 to it...hmmm
-
Kingdom Hearts is a pretty solid game. I'll never forget the time when I beat the bigass Little Mermaid octopus bitch when I was super wasted. I threw up immediately afterwards

No one has mentioned a Zelda/Nintendo game yet? GAY
Zelda: Ocarina of Time

FINAL FANTASY VII
???
Anyway, it's still the best and most balanced Zelda. It's sad that Nintendo still couldn't top it after all these years. :(
So yeah, for me it's OoT or Super Mario World.

Yes I admit that FFVII probably looks like dogshit now, I guess the nostalgia of that game for me makes it my favourite. It was the first RPG I had ever played, and I had never experienced a game like that before. I was used to medicore 2nd gen PS1 Crap like Pandemonium, Crash Bandicoot 1, DD2 etc. and before that I had only played platformers on Master System and Megadrive. I also didnt play OOT until after I had played Wind Waker so thats why I probably dont like it that much.

one's opinion on what the "best game evar" is will most definitely largely depend on the context in which it was played. hence, the reason so many people seem to pick ff7 or oot as the best game they've ever played: both seemed to herald a new era in gaming all together (both exceptionally well-done moves to 3d at the time).
there's no shame in liking ff7, regardless of who tries to shoot you down when you say you dig it. fight the good fight, mister.
