Title: Kara get in here (Aka the proper language(s) thread)
Post by: Am_I_Anonymous on January 05, 2016, 06:55:54 PM
I'm debating with my wife.

They're kinda weird.

Their kinda weird.

The second one befuddles me. Is it acceptable?

The second example is a sentence fragment, that's why it seems off to you. It can be fashioned into a complete thought as demonstrated in this thread, but that's a very low hurdle to leap in English.

Tried to come up with a clever way to weave a reference to the Peter Davison Doctor Who story "Kinda" into all this.

Failed. :(

Kara since you are in here, you should have this propaganda poster [1904-1905] on your wall

down with the Tsarists

Why, bacteria, would you press upon a whale?

At some point somebody has to remind you that you suck. Might as well be me.

We can compare any of the following;

Dick
Money
Family
Education
Future

I await your useless response.

I already have something from 1939 that says Leningrad on my wall, along with an Intourist ad for a place visited in one of my favorite Soviet novels.

i don't know much about this stuff but i'd guess at least some parts of whales are probably pretty decent hangout spots for at least some kinds of bacteria?
